Recital Day

April 11:
The girls had a music recital at the theater. Miss E sang 2 songs and Miss A played guitar and sang 2 songs.  They both sounded beautiful.  It was a long program, since Ashten has 21 students, lasting about 2 1/2 hours!

Miss E also had her first softball practice, so she left the recital early to go to that.

Easter

 April 4:

Easter day was pretty toned down.  We went to church, came home to open Easter baskets, went to my parents' for lunch, and came home again.  My parents were recovering from their 2nd covid vaccination, so we didn't stay long.  Weather wise, it was a beautiful day.

Jr. High Speech

 March 27:

The middle school kids were able to get their moment to shine for their speech contest this year.  Miss E had an informative speech about rabbits and was also in a humorous OID.  The kids did their best and came away with a 3rd in OID and Miss E came with a 4th in inform.  Pretty good, considering that they didn't get a lot of time to prepare.

Jr. High Spring Concert

 March 23:

The Jr. High had their spring music concert at the high school this year, which was nice to not be so crowded in the building like we usually are at the middle school.  Miss E had choir performances, including a short solo during of the songs, and played percussion for the band songs.  They sounded great!

Happy Birthday, E!

 March 18:

There are now 3 teenagers living in the house - Miss E turned 13 on her birthday!

Shopping Day

 March 10:

The girls and I went on a little shopping/bonding trip to Lincoln for some needed things during spring break and of course, we had to eat at HuHot.

Volleyball

 March:

The month of March we spent every Sunday afternoon at Miss E's volleyball games for the local league here in town.  All the games were at the high school and very low key.  It was fun for the girls and it gave them some playing experience.  Miss E and another girl were the tallest ones on their team!

7th Grade Project

March 1:

So, Miss E had a project for history to make an object from one of the ancient empires that the kids have been studying about all year.  She chose Greece and asked IC to help her make a knife from that era. The kids then made a museum to show their projects and describe what they were.  Miss E's mosiac was also chosen to help represent ancient Rome.  All the kids had to make mosiac's and E's was actually picked for 2nd place - so she did pretty good!  All 3 kids have now officially done these projects and all made some sort of weapon for the museum.

Beach Day!

 Feb 26:

The middle school had a "beach" day. A way to have a little fun in the midst of pandemic rules.  That was fun to see some of the kids enjoy themselves that day.  Miss E posed with a few of her classmates.

High School Speech

January & February:

For the month of January, the high school speech team had virtual performances.  Miss A placed with her humorous OID team and individually in serious prose.

In February, the team finally got to go on the road and competition was a lot tougher, so they didn't place as much, but they did great and had some fun along the way!

They also got to have their home performance, which is a more relaxed atmosphere.
