Oct. 17: So, JJ and I ended up driving the trailer to the kids' marching band performance in Ashland. The band got a 2, not bad considering the cold and wet of the whole thing. The kids performed 2nd to last, which I had not seen them be in that position before. Miss A marched but did not carry her drum, as she had been having some back problems and pain. No band uniforms this year, hopefully, they will get to perform more and get out the uniforms next year.

Confirmation
Homecoming Week
Sept. 28-Oct. 2: Homecoming week at school. Dress up days at middle school and high school. We lost the game on Friday by a few points and there was no dance. BUT there was a parade and both IC & Miss A marched in the band, Miss A rode the high school volleyball float, and Miss E rose the Jr. High Volleyball float. Then, IC & Miss A played in the pep band AND marched with the marching band at half-time.
A's Car
Sept. 29: JJ and I purchased a used vehicle for Miss A to drive. The trailblazer the kids learn to drive on has its flaws and IC needs it to drive when the weather is awful, since his little car can't handle icky country roads. This little Chevy Equinox also adjusts so that she can reach the pedals better and she's very happy with it.
High School Volleyball
August - October: This year, Miss A decided to be a student manager for high school volleyball. She's a good manager and enjoyed it mostly, despite our team being few players and having few wins. She was in good standing with the team and although only the senior parents got to go out for parents' night (because of covid), she still got to give us a gift.
Jr. High Volleyball
September & October: So, Miss E started on the B team (basically, the 7th grade) team at the beginning of the season. She played 2 games before going into quarantine and missing the next 2 games. Then, at the end of the season, she was no longer a starter and only played 1/2 of a set per game due to circumstances beyond her control. But she hung in there and wants to play club volleyball this year. This is her sport and I hope she continues to love it!
Return to Quarantine
September 5: Miss A got a respiratory thing started and by September 8, she had been tested for Covid and came back positive a couple days later. And the rest of us had the frustration of being in quarantine. That meant IC and Miss E could not go back to school for 2 weeks. They stumbled through long days of boredom, frustration with assignments, zoom classes, and isolation. Miss A recovered quickly from corona, which, basically had gone through several girls on our JV volleyball team, which is where she got it. I got a crash course in driving the grain cart, since we couldn't have extra help come in, because of course, it was time to harvest. I also did some truck driving, but only a little bit. The girls got along most of the time-riding bikes, taking walks, practicing volleyball. The absolute worst was E having to miss 2 1/2 weeks of jr high volleyball, which is half of the season. IC did some of his forging, but it was hot a lot, so it was hard to do it very much. He also helped a little bit in the field. By the end of September, we were all finally allowed to resume our lives, but it took the kids some time to get back caught up in school.
