Last Midget Home Game

Saturday, Sept, 27th, the kids ended up having the Hafer kids to play with for the afternoon while the men harvested beans.

So, needless to say, the kids were kinda tired on Sunday morning for Sunday school and then for IC's home football game.  The boys played Seward and the JV was beat while the Varsity won.  Since IC is a lineman on offense, which is a position he doesn't like, by the way, it's been hard to get any good pictures of him playing.  Especially, since he doesn't get to play that much.

After the game was the potluck meal to thank the coaches.  The girls had gone home with my parents, so they got to have a break from football and didn't have to sit through the varsity game.  One more regular season game to go and then JV is done.  The varsity will probably play in the championship game in 2 weeks, and IC might have to suit up for that, but we will see.

Homecoming

This month hasn't been terribly exciting.  Just busy.  Mondays are dance and guitar lesson.  Tuesday and Thursdays are football practice and some Girl Scout meetings.  Wednesday have had some cub scout meetings.  Friday and Saturday, we've been trying to have free-it doesn't always work, but we try.

This past week, the 22-26th, was homecoming week, so a little bit more "fun" stuff thrown in with the routine.

Friday was Grandparent's day for the the girls and after early school dismissal, all 3 were in the Homecoming Parade.  The girls were on the girl scout float and IC was on the midget football float.

The girls then went directly to our local pumpkin patch to play and pick a pumpkin.

After that, it was home to do chores and feed the men lunches before heading back to town for the hamburger feed and the homecoming game.  E found a friend to play with where we were sitting, Miss A was back and forth between me and playing with friends and IC hung with his middle school friends.

At the 3rd quarter, the kids go out on the track to do a "rock the house" cheer.  IC and his friends were in the middle of that!  The football boys did well and ran away with the game for the win.

Football Again

Sunday, the 21st, was the boys' game in Norris.  The JV tied at 0, while the varsity ran away with the game.

3rd Grade Bibles and Football

Sunday, Sept. 14, was a busy day.  After Sunday School, the 3rd graders received their bibles during church.  Miss A was pretty excited to get hers!

Soon after that, we headed to York for IC's football game.  The JV lost, but the varsity won.

First Fun Run

The first fun run was Sept 10 and all the kids participated.  They did pretty well.

A Sunday of Firsts

The first Sunday back to Sunday School on Sept. 7, was also Miss A's first time of being an acolyte.  She did great and was partnered with a 6th grader, who helped her out.

After church, we rushed off to IC's first midget football game.  This year, he plays offense, which he doesn't like as well as playing defense last year.

Back To School Camp

Monday after the state fair, we were home and I discovered in the evening that E had accumulated some unwelcome guests-head lice.  UGH.  It was awful.  I spent the whole week cleaning, treating and washing laundry.

On Saturday, the 6th, I let the girls go to a girl scout activity in Grand Island.  It was a back to school day camp and the girls decorated a notebook, pencil and made a pencil case with duct tape.  The girls also made erasers out of eraser clay and took a hike on the grounds.  They had a lot of fun!

State Fair

Sunday, August 31, we went to the State Fair.  We looked through the rabbits, walked through the rest of the animals, saw the open and 4-H exhibits, went through the new building (which wasn't all that interesting), watched a dog show and had typical fair food.  It was warm, but not sweltering and the kids did pretty well.  We headed home to a thunderstorm that we got caught in on the way home.  It was a little scary for about 5 minutes, but we managed ok.  We were able to get chores and supper done in a good time and although it threatened more rain, we didn't get any more after that first storm.

Ducks on the Move

Ugh-it's been forever since I posted.  It's been busy, to say the least.

August 27, I moved the Rouen ducks to the little chicken house on the edge of the yard.  We've been letting them out during the daytime and penning them at night ever since.  They like it behind the chicken house, but after a couple of weeks, they started venturing out more and have been up to the house several times now. The cats don't seem to bother them and the dog only went after them a couple of times, usually when they were running from me!  She's left them alone since.  They seem to be pretty happy.
