A Week of Disappointment

April 4-7:
Just a completely disappointing week for IC.  He went to the quiz bowl instead of the track meet and the boys were 2nd going into the semi-finals, but lost at the wrong time and they went home with nothing.  On Saturday, the boys shot poorly (except IC, who did the best he's ever shot at conference with a 39) and were out of the running for the medals for the day.  I am hoping the next week improves greatly!

Easter

April 1:
A little Easter basket fun before we headed to my mom's house for dinner after church.  It was so cold, miserable and SNOWY,  I didn't even think about getting an Easter picture of the kids.  E bunny was the only one who really had an Easter outfit this year, anyway.  We ended up with about 8 inches of snow that day.

Pigs

March 31:
So while we were freezing in Aurora, JJ and E bunny went to Hastings to buy some pigs for the fair.  Miss E is very happy with her 3 pigs this year.

Jr. Team Champs

March 31:
At the 2nd conference trap shoot, it was horribly windy and cold-totally awful.  Despite that, IC's Jr. team WON the Jr. team shoot and IC tied with 3 other kids for high Jr. runner up shooter.  This meant he had to go in a shoot off between him and the other boys, because there is only 1 medal.  He did not win, but I am so proud of him fighting through that awful weather to get to second-highest shooter.

IC's Latest Project

March 30:
IC's latest project in the past recent months has been building his own forge so that he can make metal tools and knives.  He took over the very back room of the shop and has been working hard on building his forge and has made a few tools to help him forge metal.

1st Jr. High Track Meet

March 29:

I didn't get to see IC do his field events at his first Jr. High track meet for the year, because I worked 1/2 a day, but I did get to see him run.  It was a cold, windy day.  IC placed 6th in long jump and his 4 x 1 relay team was 1st.
The boys ended up winning the track meet.  They did a really good job.
The next meet ended up getting rescheduled due to weather, and IC missed it because he went to the quiz bowl in Seward that day.  The meet after that in Wilbur, got CANCELLED due to weather, so he didn't get to go to that one, either.

Crazy Saturday

Saturday, April 24:
It was a crazy day.  We started with conference trap shoot in Aurora.  It was bitter cold, windy and damp and neither IC nor Miss A shot very well.  So, we were done early.

In the early evening, was Miss E's birthday party with friends at the rec center.  The girls had a great time playing games, eating pizza and cake, and playing more games.  E got several gifts that she currently enjoys a lot.

JJ worked on teaching Miss A the fine art of playing pool.

Spring Jr. High Concert

Tuesday, March 20:

The Spring Jr. high concert (which was IC's last one) was a busy concert, but a really good one.  Miss A's class had songs with a lot of movement and she even had a short solo line in the one song.

IC's choir sounded nice and they did a good job.

Miss A played the snare and some toys for their band's 2 songs.

IC's band finished out the concert.

PreConference Shoot

March 18:

Also on E's birthday was the preconference shoot at our local gun club.  So, after church, we headed there for IC's and Miss A's first shoot.  Both of the kids got medal - IC's team won the Jr shoot and Miss A got runner up for high female Jr. team (she's the only jr. female shooter on the team at the moment).

Happy 10th Birthday, E!

March 18:
Double Digits!

Family Birthday Party

March 17:

Miss E"s birthday was the next day, but we needed to squeeze her family party in the evening before at Chances "R".  It was a nice meal, with cake afterwards and some nice gifts.
