Duet

Sunday, December 31:

Miss E and I performed a duet for church to a very small crowd.  We sang a melody of "Away in a Manger, Silent Night, and O Holy Night.

White Christmas

Sunday, December 24:

We got snow for Christmas this year.  Not too much, but enough that the girls could play in it.  We celebrated Christmas with the in-laws Friday night, Christmas with my parents Christmas Eve night, and enjoyed Christmas day to ourselves.

Church Christmas Program

Sunday, December 17:

Our final Christmas program for the year was the one at church.  Miss A was an angel and sang a solo, Miss E was Mary, and IC ran the sound.  Miss A was in my choir, where she sang and played bells, but I didn't get a picture of her singing and Miss E sang and played chimes in her choir.

Nice Sunday Afternoon

S8nday, December 10:

We had a beautiful afternoon, so the kids and JJ went out to do a little trap practice in the cornfield.

Middle School Christmas Concert

Tuesday, December 5:

The middle school concert was very nice.  IC got an academic award, then played the baritone sax in the jr. high band, and later sang in the jr. high choir.  Miss A played several percussion instruments in the 6th grade band and sang in the 6th grade choir.

Santa Visit

Saturday, December 2:

Miss E was the only one this year who wanted to visit Santa, and she didn't want to sit beside him in the sleigh!  She had a nice visit with him, though.

Last Elementary Christmas Program

Friday, December 1:

Miss E's last elementary Christmas program.  She did a great job!  The 4th graders were the last ones to sing and they had 3 songs, one where Miss E played the xylaphone.

School Learner's Permit

Friday, December 1:

IC is officially driving!  He passed his test to get his school learner's permit.  In 2 months and 50 driving hours later, he will be able to take the driving test to get his actual school permit.  We bought a trailblazer for him back in October and have been tweaking and fixing a few things with it for driving.

Chruch Performances

November 26:

Both of the girls performed in church.  Miss A sang her "Diamonds" song from the 4-H talent show and Miss E played "Ode to Joy" and "Rock Group" on the piano during offeratory.  They did a great job!

In the afternoon, the girls decorated the Christmas tree.

Thanksgiving Day

November 23:

We had Thanksgiving Day at home this year, and finally got to give IC his birthday cake!

ARBA Crete Show

Saturday, November 18:

We headed to Crete to the ARBA rabbit show.  We were all tired, so we didn't enjoy it much.  Miss E's bunny, Pearl, got best of opposite breed in the Youth A show and IC's English lop got best of breed in the Youth B show.

Miss A purchased 3 new mini rex does in the hopes she can eventually get some pretty mini rex babies eventually.

4-H Award

Also on November 12, Miss E got her first 4-H award - Level 1 on the Diamond Clover Awards.

Happy 14th Birthday!

November 12:

Sorry, I wasn't there on your birthday, IC, but happy birthday, anyway!

Busy Week

November 11 - 16:

My aunt Betty, passed away.  So, my parents and I traveled to Ohio for the funeral.  We left on the 11th, stopped in Michigan for the night, then drove the rest of the way on Sunday, the 12th.  We had some chilly, but not bad days in Ohio.  Calling hours were Monday night, where I saw a lot of my family, and talked to some of Mom's Amish cousins and her last living aunt (Edna).  Tuesday morning was the funeral-the only day it was really sunny and completely nice all day.  After the meal, we went to Betty's house, where my uncle Gary kept trying to send a hamper and a tote full of snowmen home with us.  It became our running joke through the day, which helped lighten up things a little.  Wednesday, we headed home, in the rain, stopping in Iowa for the night.  We got home around 4:30 pm, after we had to stop in Lincoln and York for some things.

Two of my closest cousins-Marie and Tina.

Passed by this large rooster on the way to and from the funeral home, reminded us of John and his chickens!

Still had room for that hamper and tote-and no, we did NOT bring them home!

This was our nice, close to new, hotel in Iowa, with a rather strange color scheme.

Miss A sent this to me while we were gone-apparently, this is what was going on.
