We do nothing special for New Years-no party for us. Instead, it was a great day to be at home. I did the usual laundry and also worked on cleaning up the store room, which was in severe need. It was to the point that there was barely a pathway in there and I knew that in order to get the Christmas tree back in there, I was going to have to "make a way." It took me all morning and a little bit of the afternoon to get it done.
IC helped for a short while, but I knew he couldn't stick it out the whole time. We found my old cassette TAPES, (oh yeah, not kidding on that one) and he's currently enjoying listening to them. Actually, all 3 are enjoying my old country and a few rock tapes. At least, the music's clean, so I don't have to worry about what they're listening to. (Unlike on the radio-yikes, even country music's starting to get a little rank at times!)
This afternoon, then, we also got out Miss A's Junior Scrabble game, which we haven't played yet and played the beginner version (has the cheat sheet on the board-match the letters to the words pre-printed on the board.) The kids want to do the advanced version (where the board is blank), so I said we could do that after supper.
JJ's been working today on my dilapidated fence just north of my yard. With the corner post and another post completely rotted out, and the fence totally falling off another fence, I finally got him to work on it some today. We're going to replace it with regular high-tensile fence rather than the weaved fence. Weaved fence is the pits-it catches stuff, tries to get caught in your lawn mower, any close trees grow into it, etc. I'm looking forward to an easier time of mowing this year.
Today's supposed to be our last nice day before it gets back to being 30 degrees and lower again for awhile. Unfortunately, that Nebraska wind's acting up and it's rather chilly today. It's also cloudy and it's not as warm as was predicted, either. All in all, a good day to work on that store room!
I plan to take down the Christmas tree tonight and tomorrow (I know, it's Sunday, but I need it to be done soon). I want to be able to clean the house on Monday morning and regain my tiny living room back away from Christmas stuff. I haven't even put all of the Christmas gifts away yet, they just keep hanging out under the tree!
Hard to believe it's time to go back to school again in just four days. It seems like we haven't even had time to enjoy the vacation time. I haven't even gotten to my scrapping, yet, and that was going to be a big part of my down time. Since I've got a couple days left, maybe I'll be able to sneak some in soon!
This will be the first time in quite awhile that JJ will be in for a lot of New Year's Day. He's usually working all day, but since it's Sunday, he'll actually get to spend the day with us. That will be nice (until he or the kids get bored!)

High School Wrestling Tourney
Friday was a busy day, as I was up early to finish entering account stuff in the computer. I didn't NEED to be up, but I'm so used to it, I was anyway. Besides, I get things done when the kids are sleeping!
By 11 am, I finally had the book work done, the stuff ready and the girls dressed and ready and we headed to town. I ran a few errands before we headed to the high school to their wrestling tourney since my nephew was wrestling. There were a lot of schools and people there. He did really well, placing 2nd in his weight class.
I met IC at the school since my in-laws were there to see Brian and we had dinner before he wrestled again. JJ was able to come and see him wrestle once and then it was time to head to JJ's aunt and uncle's to give them their Christmas gift. I didn't stay too long, as the kids got naughty.
We spent the rest of the evening at home. Miss A wanted to sleep in IC's room, so I let her. Of course, E bunny had a fit and since she was overtired anyway, it was a painful one. She was asleep by 9, at least and the other 2 were out by 9:30 or so, so it worked out alright.

Thursday's Work
So, IC went outside for part of the morning to be with Daddy. I was so glad it was nice enough outside for him to do that.
We'd had trouble with our internet since Christmas Eve-actually, we hadn't HAD any since then, so when it finally started working Thursday morning, I was pretty happy. We only had 50+ emails to sort through! So, when it quit again later that morning, I was not thrilled. I called them after dinner and had to wait awhile for them to get back to me. After it was "fixed" (well, we thought so anyway), IC and I headed to church so that I could do the S.S. bulletin board in the hallway. Each class has to take a turn decorating it and January is Kindergarten's turn. IC helped me out and after that, we stopped at the coffee shop to have a soda and a cookie.
Then, it was time to head to Grandma J's to pick up the girls and leave IC there overnight. The girls got to be outside with Daddy for awhile. E bunny loves to chore with Daddy and Miss A has a sudden love for the bike that she hated all summer! She waited until it was cold before deciding that she liked it after all!
The girls got to watch their choice of TV after supper, but it wasn't QUITE as peaceful as it was with just IC!

Overnight Stays
Tuesday night, IC and Miss A went to my mom's for an overnight visit. This was supposed to make it easier for E bunny and I to head to the dentist Wednesday morning for check-ups. Well, if E had gotten to be before 10pm, it would have been fine, but since she didn't want to go to bed alone, it took FOREVER to get her to bed to stay. Hence, she did NOT want to get up the next morning.
She finally completely awoke by the time I'd dressed her and got ready to leave! She did great at the dentist, anyway, and her teeth looked better than before, which was great. My teeth also were good, so it was a good visit.
Of course, after that we had to go to Walmart and McDonald's before heading home to unload groceries and go pick up the big kids.
I sent the kids out to play before we went into town to take IC to guitar lessons and the girls to stay overnight at Grandma J's. The weather's been awesome the last 2 weeks. Just warm enough to be comfortable in coats-no snow or mud or rain and so we haven't needed our warm snow boots or coveralls. What a lifesaver for Christmas vacation to be able to send the kids outside and it's been nice enough to BE out there!
With the girls gone, IC got to pick his own movie to watch at home and it was rather a peaceful evening.

Monday Christmas
The day after Christmas was filled with lots of toy-playing and some fighting over toys. In the evening, it was time to head to my in-laws for their Christmas. We had supper before gifts and I had to get things moving afterward in order to get to the gifts, as the kids were getting wild. The kids faired pretty well.
Since it was 9 pm before we got home, it was great to be able to send the kids to bed right away. Evening Christmas celebrations work pretty well!

Christmas Day
As it turned out, I was the one who had trouble sleeping Christmas eve night. I kept thinking about too many things, and it wasn't really having to do with Christmas presents! I was up early, figuring IC would be, since he's an early bird, but it was 7:15 before he was up and I was making salad for Christmas dinner. I sent him upstairs to get the girls up, since I knew that we needed to get moving in order to get through presents before Christmas service at church.
E bunny came down the stairs crying because she couldn't find her blanket, but was soon happy as she saw what Santa left her! The kids were thrilled with their gifts. This was good, considering it took me awhile to figure out what to give the kids as gifts this year!
After gifts, JJ went to chore while I worked at getting kids ready for church. This was no small task, mind you.
I sang and signed my Christmas melody song in front of a small crowd at church before we headed to my mom's for Christmas dinner. After gifts, JJ, my dad, and I basically crashed for awhile while the kids played! I guess Christmas was more tiring for us than them this year.
The kids all got legos, by the way, from Grandma and Grandpa K-they were pretty happy!

Christmas Eve
After our little "incident" at home Friday, I was hoping for a quiet, calm Christmas Eve.
We started out with some fun in the morning dipping pretzels in white and chocolate bark. The kids had a good time with that.
Amazingly, the 5 pm Christmas Eve service went well also. We were even early, this was a good thing especially since JJ had to do sound! The girls got fidgety-understandable, as the service ended up being 1 hr 15min long and the church was FULL! E bunny was just SO waiting for the end when we light the candles-unfortunately, she fell asleep right before communion (right before the candles) and I couldn't get her awake when it was candle time! Ah well-there's always next year!
After a light supper, I let the kids open 1 gift. I gave each of them their own ornament (I do that every year) and a small pile of books. They were pretty excited and happy with their gifts. It did take awhile for them to get to sleep that night, but that was understandable.

Whoops!
Friday, we pretty much were home, except having to run into town to get a few groceries and other supplies. Unfortunately, IC decided to add a little excitement to our day of laundry, house cleaning and art projects.
Apparently, he was playing legos and put a piece in his mouth (who knows why) and accidentally swallowed it! Ugh-and I thought we were over this stage! It's a ball, the size of a marble (but made of plastic) and hopefully, it will "pass" without incident. He's supposed to drink a lot, eat fiber-richer foods, and let us know if he gets any pain, constipation, etc.
I did get upset with him-he knows better than that. I don't know what he was thinking. Hopefully, we won't have to make an emergency trip to the hospital!

Asleep At the Swing
I pushed E bunny on the swing Thursday afternoon and she decided that she needed a nap at that time. She conked out for awhile! I did end up carrying her into the house after a short time, since it was apparent she wasn't going to wake up right away. I was able to finish wrapping the kids' gifts while she slept, as the other 2 were outside playing! When she did wake up, she rushed right out to go do chores with Daddy.
After the kids came in, we showered quick and then as soon as JJ came in, we headed to York to eat supper at Runza before going to Walmart so that JJ could take the kids Christmas shopping for me. The kids were a little wild on the way home, but we made it in time to send them to bed!
Miss A's Class Party
Thursday was a busy day, as I dropped the kids off at school (all 3 of them), went to my back massage appointment, went to church to do kids' packs, and then it was time to go back to school for Miss A's Christmas party. They started with snack, then played pin the nose on the snowman, pass the candy canes, and guess the Santa before doing a short craft that I had ready. After that, it was a few minutes of down time, as it was cold and icy outside, so they didn't go out to play. E bunny got to watch the last 15 minutes of the party, as she was done with school. After that, it was time for dinner and E bunny and I ate with Miss A at lunch. That was fun and the girls actually ate!
After that, it was time to go home and the big kids were done at 1:10, so they were home by 1:45. The rest of the afternoon, we kind of lazed around and didn't do much. IC's guitar teacher took the week off of lessons, so we actually didn't go ANYWHERE the rest of the day.
It was nice.

4 Days To Go
So, we are at Wednesday. IC has no guitar lessons and no other activities abound for the rest of the week except for me helping at Miss A's Christmas party at school tomorrow. All 3 kids have their last day of school tomorrow and I am looking forward to it, to be honest. I am ready for a break from all the running around and from fighting to get the 2 girls up in the morning. I have the kids' gifts to wrap yet and a little more chex mix to make for a couple more people and then I'm done with that.
E and I ran several errands this morning after dropping the kids off since she didn't have school today before running home to help JJ move cows from one cornfield to our home place. E and I led the way in JJ's truck. We traveled 1 1/2 miles north and 1 mile east pushing the cows on 4-wheeled vehicles instead of 4-legged animals. They wanted to go everywhere but where they were supposed to, but we finally got them home.
E bunny is still recovering from her ears and all her other illnesses she's had. She's healthy enough to be around others and eats well, but still complains of tummy aches on and off. I think her ear medicine is also hard on her, as it's a tougher antibiotic this time. She's only got a few more doses to go. I hope then, that we are all done with illnesses for awhile. I'm pretty tired of flus and snotty noses and sick kiddos.
Today is a day of catching up some things, getting take-home baggies ready for tomorrow, and practicing for Sunday. I also need to work on wrapping if E takes a nap today. Plus, there's a mountain of laundry and a dirty house to clean before Christmas (my goal time).
I have one package left to come with Christmas presents yet. It should have been here Monday, but didn't. According to the tracking, it should come to my door today. I sure hope so.
Now, it's off to start dinner and put another load in the washer. No rest for the weary today!

7 Days To Go
It's the final 7 days before Christmas. I am spending the first 2 working at school and then I'm off. Monday is my regular day at SUCCESS and Tuesday I am filling in for the other Kindergarten class in the morning and the library in the afternoon. I am taking all of Wednesday to do other things like, spend time w/E bunny and Thursday is the kids' final day of school. Miss A's Christmas party will be in the morning and I am helping with that. E bunny has her final TYKE day that day and gets to be in pajamas and IC's class is having their party before school gets out at 1:10.
All of our regular activities are off for Christmas vacation except gymnastics and a guitar lesson, so we will have a very easy and (possibly, maybe) a tad boring week. I can live with that.
Next Sunday, we are going to Christmas service because I am singing a solo, then we'll have Christmas at my mom's. The other Christmas will be that next Monday evening.
So, last night was JJ and my anniversary night out. We went to eat, which was very good, by the way, before the sequel movie of Sherlock Holmes. It was pretty good, there were parts I didn't enjoy, but it was ok. After that, we stopped at Walmart and saw several people we knew doing last-minute shopping. Every year I manage to lose the Christmas tags to put on the presents, and this year was no exception. So, I had to get some of them and more wrapping paper, plus I gave a suggestion for JJ to give his dad and so we got that figured out. (We ended up ordering online, but at least, we have him taken care of). We're all done Christmas shopping, except for what JJ gets me. If he gets me anything. Anyway, we also picked up 1/2 of Miss A's birthday present, as it was in. We are just waiting on the big part to come-it's supposed to be here by Christmas eve.
Yesterday, we also officially started calving! Today, we have 2 more babies on the ground, so they'll be more chores for JJ to do.
Today was also the last day of Sunday School for the year. Then, I had 2 bell choir songs and a regular chancel choir songs, so it was a busy day! After that, we met my parents, and my uncle Layle at Bubba's Cafe to eat dinner. Now, I've got gifts from some of my students to open, Christmas letters to get ready to send tomorrow, and my solo to practice. So much for a day of rest!

Delayed Anniversary
So, last Friday was our 11th anniversary. Tomorrow, though, JJ and I are going out. We will go to Chances R in York to eat supper before going to a movie. JJ wants to see the Sherlock Holmes sequel. I believe we saw the 1st one on our anniversary 2 years ago. My parents are watching the kids. My mom has a Christmas party to go to at 6, so my dad will be watching the kids by himself for an hour or so. He's adamant he can do it (he's never done it before). Hopefully, the kids will behave so that he doesn't regret it!
Picture With Santa
We received this photo in the mail today of when the kids went to see Santa 3 weeks ago. One of these days, they will ALL look at the camera at the same time! Ah well.
Painful Ears
It's been a long week. Really. Besides having plenty of activities to do, I had to work some extra days. Then, on my regular Friday to work, poor E awoke disgruntled today. Ever since she got over her stomach flu last week, she'd had a runny nose. She didn't have a temp, but complained of an ear ache. I learned 2 months ago that when she complains of an ear ache, it's usually worse than what she says. She didn't want to stay with Grandma K today, which told me she REALLY wasn't feeling good. So, I called in to work and had to tell them I couldn't come in (which left me with a guilty conscious, but I would have felt guilty leaving E, also.) I got her into the dr this morning, and it was a good thing-she has a double, rather nasty ear infection. Poor girl. Back on antibiotics once again as she had an ear infection just in September.
By the time we got home from getting her medicine, it was 11 am and she was out like a light. So, I got to wrap some Christmas gifts while she was asleep, which was good. I am about 1/2 done with that. I also got some laundry done, ran off my Christmas letter, and worked on my solo for church on Christmas Day.
In the afternoon, the school called, asking if Miss A was supposed to go home with her friend Micah. While Miss A had mentioned it yesterday, the mom (our pastor's wife) had not spoken directly, so I didn't know that it was for real. So, she had a playdate after school.
A friend of IC's came with his dad, who was looking at a project JJ wanted to have done, so IC got to play with him some, which was good.
E bunny did feel good enough to go outside in the evening and ended up getting Daddy to take her on the tractor to feed the cows, so that was good.
Not a bad ending to a tough day today.

Boy Scout Awards
Thursday was Boy Scout pack meeting and it was at the movie theatre. The kids watched a movie about the Boy Scout pinecar derby, and they all got pop and popcorn.(The adults and "extra" kids also got some, too.) After the movie, pinewood cars were handed out, along with the prizes for popcorn sales. IC sold enough to get the zyclone and a $30 gift card to Walmart. He also received 2 popcorn patches-he was pretty happy.
Girl Scout Prizes
Tuesday's normal gymnastics routine activity went fine, especially since I put E bunny in the earlier class with Miss A and thus we got done and home from gymnastics in good enough time to drop off IC and E and just take Miss A to Girl Scouts. The girls had a little awards ceremony for the prizes they got from selling nuts and candy after having pizza. Then, they had a small craft before it was all done.
E Bunny's First Preschool Christmas Program
My adventurous girl was truly an angel at her Christmas program on Monday, the 12th, as she sang all the words she knew, and did the actions to the songs. The program was so cute, consisting of 67 preschool TYKE students, ages 3-5. It lasted 20 minutes and she did awesome! I am so proud of her!

Church Christmas Program
Today was our church Christmas program. It went well, despite not having a lot of practice. I again was the costume girl, plus I was also helping with the cherub choir, as I will be taking over for Mrs. M in January, when she takes an extended maternity leave from preschool S.S. and choir. JJ had to do the sound, so our whole family was busy today.
Afterward, the kids all received a paper bag with an orange, a few peanuts and pieces of candy, and an ornament in it. Last year, they didn't get those, but they had in previous years. I still have costumes to hang up, but they'll be fine in my room until I get to them sometime this week, as I will be getting my Sunday School stuff also ready, as it will be our last class time next Sunday until after the first of the year.
Busy Saturday
I skipped art club on Saturday, I just didn't want to go.
That's a first, by the way.
So, Miss A had a birthday party at noon at the Prince of Peace church. I decided I needed to go to York to get the basic necessities. I took E bunny to mom's since my MIL was gone, dropped off Miss A, and took IC with me to town.
After eating, we spent time at Walmart-a LOT of time at Walmart. We got a few Christmas gifts and lots of basic supplies before stopping at home to put most of the away.
Then to mom's to pick up the girls (mom had gotten Miss A from the party) and back home to do chores and so on.
It was nice to just have 1 along who could actually help!

Happy Anniversary!
Friday, the 9th, was our anniversary. 11 years we've been married. I spent part of the day working. Even though I was supposed to be there all day, I only had a 3/4 day because my little boy left school early for a doctor appointment.
Since I was home Thursday, JJ brought me flowers a day early-5 very pretty roses that are opening HUGE! I wasn't expecting that. :)

A Fall
So, Thursday afternoon, I took E bunny outside to play. She was ready to get outside in the afternoon, as it had started snowing again. This time it was 3 inches of fluffy snow.
After feeding cats and pushing her on the swing, I headed it quick to get my camera. I slipped on the ice, re-injuring my knee.
When I was in high school, I partially dislocated my knee and managed to re-do that a few times after that. The last time was when I last went skiing in Colorado with JJ (before children, mind you)-on the slope-and had to be brought down by the medic.
That's embarassing, let me tell you.
I supposed one of these times I'll end up with surgery to tighten those ligaments.
But I'd rather not for awhile.
I did ok at work on Friday. I put on my old brace I hadn't worn in 9 or 10 YEARS and carried on.
I'm sore, but it's not as bad as I thought it might be.
I still got some pictures taken, anyway.
Guitar Lessons
I finally got a person called to see if IC could take guitar lessons from him. We can fit in at 5 pm on Wednesdays, which means we are dropping Creations, as we were getting too many activities anyway. IC was so excited when I picked him up after a 1/2 hour lesson. He commented it was much easier than trying to follow the program we had on DVDs. He's even been practicing! Of course, it's the first week, but it's a relief not to have to try to work with him on an instrument I don't know much about. I hope he can stick with it.
Sick Person #3
On Monday the 5th and Tuesday the 6th I worked in Success. The gal whose been working on days I don't decided to take a leave of absence, so I filled in Tuesday for her. I will now be working all day on Mondays and Fridays until Christmas vacation instead of 1/2 days, but I said I couldn't work everyday to fill in, that's just too much.
So, Tuesday, my mom picked up E bunny from Tyke and then brought her back to school when school was out so that we could head to York for gymnastics. During her class she started complaining of a tummy ache and right when we were pulling into the garage, it was a vomit-fest. Ugh. It took me over an hour to get everything cleaned up. It was awful. Then, I spent the night on the couch. She finally quit throwing up after 2 am Wednesday and that day she didn't get sick.
Thursday morning, she got up at 5 am and threw up, but she had started with a cold, so I think that irritated things. I still kept her home and she spent the day recovering. She finally started to be more herself in the afternoon. I'd definitely missed my girl!
I am SO hoping we will FINALLY be done with this awful stuff for awhile.

Sled Fun
Sunday, the 4th, the kids got a new love-riding in the sled pulled by the 4 wheeler! The girls went first and only spilled off once. IC went 2nd and spilled off once, also. They had a blast and will definitely be asking to "do it again!"

Snow Day!
It's officially December. We have snow today-December 3rd. To say the least, the kids are thrilled. Me, not as much. I'm not a big fan of snow and know that the kids will be sick of it by about the 2nd week (or earlier).
But, for today, they are happy and excited to get to play in the white stuff. It snowed for most of the day and is supposed to kind of keep going tonight. At 7 pm, we have a good 3-4 inches down, but it's doable. The temps stayed around 30 for the day-excellent for standing the cold. The snow's wet on the bottom since the ground is still somewhat warm, so it made the snow heavy to shovel, but easy to shovel off the driveway and sidewalk.
The hooligans happy to have snow to play in.
Snow ball fight.
Someone ALWAYS gets out the shovel.
The kids did try to sled-it really didn't work very well.
One of the kitties from the barn came to visit us while we were playing.
Cute, isn't she?
More sledding attempts. Still not successful. We need a bigger hill.
IC's snowman. I asked if it was a little person. He said that Miss A kept trying to pack the snow and it kept falling apart, so it's a short man. It works, I think.
Should be interesting what we wake up tomorrow and find if there's a lot more snow or just a little. Either way, JJ will spend the morning digging out areas while the kids and I are having Christmas program practice before church tomorrow.
