Last week was crazy. The kids and I went selling after school, after supper, yesterday afternoon and JJ took the older 2 this afternoon. We haven't sold THAT much, as it takes awhile to drive around the countryside! But, the kids are close to their goals (yea!) and I only have to get a hold of a couple people who are past customers this week and then, we're going to be done.
I spent the most of my free time researching a new camera. I finally decided which one I wanted and what lens and am now waiting for it to come TOMORROW. I'm actually pretty excited about it.
I worked in TYKE Thursday and Friday and work in SUCCESS tomorrow and TYKE again on Friday, so I have already a busy week. Plus, all the regular things are this week AND we have plans to go to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday (with my new camera!!).
JJ broke down yet AGAIN yesterday and if we can ever go more than a day at a time, we can be done harvesting in 4 days. I'm hoping it won't extend out to 8, since we are constantly breaking down this year!
I've been behind in everything for quite awhile now, even forgetting a back appointment last week. I don't know if I will even have enough time to get anything done this week, but I REALLY need to pick up stuff around the house-it's amazing how things quickly pile up. There's just no time for dullness around here, that's for sure!

Driving Lesson
So, I was hoping this wouldn't happen at least until IC was 10, but at 8 years old, the boy has driven a tractor!
This was last Sunday. I am hoping they won't repeat the lesson this Sunday, too-I don't want him growing up too fast. IC was already talking about getting his own little tractor to "drive around the yard." Ugh-I told him he'd have to pay for it himself!

Flat Tire
So, we were headed to school to pick up IC, when I suddenly got a flat on the country road. I called JJ to come help. Then, I ended up calling the school, guitar and gymnastics teachers to tell them we'd be late. We discovered the tire was toast, so I drove slowly on the underinflated donut tire to town to pick up IC and go over to the tire shop. JJ bought 2 new tires, which I have to get rotated to the front of the van today.
After that, we headed to York. Miss A was 20 minutes late to class and IC was also, but it worked out fine for both. After that, things settled down and we were able to get to Walmart after eating. That took longer than I hoped and once again, the girls were being rather naughty in the store and on the way home.
Wild-these couple of weeks have just been wild.

(Kind Of) Sick Day
I worked all this morning on all kinds of things, of the biggest was trying to figure out which camera I want. I have it narrowed down basically to 2, but it's hard to take that big step, because this camera isn't cheap!
Around 9:30, I got a call that Miss A was sick. So, I went to school to get her. She doesn't have a temp, hasn't vomited, had some diarrhea at school, but none at home. So, we are still going to gymnastics and guitar. I don't know if she will go to her class, but E is fine and will go.
The combine is still getting fixed. Apparently, we had to have THE guys from Kearney come to fix it. Hopefully, that will get done today and we'll be back to combining soon.

Not How I Planned It To Go
We had a busy day yesterday. In the afternoon, I took E bunny to my MIL's while I had a couple of appointments. I picked the big kids up from school and we got a few popcorn and nut/candy sales from teachers before we decided to head to grandma's to pick up E.
Unfortunately, someone wasn't paying attention to what I was doing, which was turning to another street and rear-ended us. The kids and I spent the next 45 minutes dealing with paper work and so on. It was not the high-light of my day, for sure. The damage isn't horrible, but now it's something else to fix.
After getting E and getting an order from my MIL and then going home to do chores and make supper, there was no time left for going out to do more selling. Bummer.

Grandparents Day
Friday, the 21st, was Grandparent's Day at school. I picked the kids up after their early dismissal of 2:10 and headed to the high school to take them to their respective floats for the Homecoming Parade. Then, I went to join my mom and E on the parade route to watch.
IC rode the Cub Scout float and Miss A rode the Girl Scout float.
After the parade, we went to Reinsch's Pumpkin Patch for the Girl Scouts, as they'd just taken their trailer ride over there right after the parade. The kids had fun and I was able to get several pictures before my camera died. Like, really died-not just dead batteries, we're talking unable to resuscitate. Not a good thing, especially as much as I take pictures!

The Week of Sept. 17-22
This particular week wasn't exactly a stellar one. It was busy. I worked a half-day in TYKE on Monday and two full days on Wednesday and Thursday in the Middle School. There was IC's Cub Scout den meeting Monday, Girl Scout meeting on Tuesday, Pioneers and Choir on Wednesday and Cub Scout Popcorn meeting on Thursday.
E decided to not feel good again Monday, so I was able to get a different antibiotic for her, which did help.
Wednesday, the men went full-on for harvest. JJ had been picking dryland corners and some wetter corn for my BIL to feed the pigs on and off the past week or so, but they started with beans then on Wednesday. After about 3 days, the combine broke down. The kids have ridden a couple of times and I've only made 2 sets of sandwiches, but it will be back to work soon.

3rd Grade Bibles
IC and his larger S.S. class received their Bibles on Sept. 16.
Yep, there's all boys except 1 girl, who happens to be the preacher's daughter!

And It Begins . . . .
So, E was sick for a couple of days with a high fever. Saturday, the 8th, she seemed better, her temp was at 99, but was feeling better, so I took the risk and went to art club. It was our first meeting and pretty poorly attended, but 4 of us made a few decisions.
After that, we were home all day and E played outside, but was feverish by supper time.
Sunday morning, the 9th, was the first day of Sunday School. I have only 4 attending students in Kindergarten this year (the other 2 never come) and Brandy, in preschool had 10-11 students. We were teaching the same curriculum and it was her first time teaching and it was a little overwhelming for her. Not to mention that she'd had a busy week and wasn't able to look at the lesson much. So, I offered to teach that morning and by the end of the week, we'd decided to work together. This gives my few students interaction with others and I can help with crafts and teaching. We decided to tag team teacher-alternating teaching days so we each take turns teaching and helping. It works out great.
E bunny did great until evening and once again, her temp was over 100. Ugh.
Monday, her temp was normal, but in the evening it was up to 100 AGAIN.
Tuesday, I took her to the dr, who said she had tonsilitis. She rarely complained about a sore throat-little stinker. We still went to gymnastics and guitar, as she was feeling better and her temp was down again.
Wednesday was the first fun run of the season. Miss A decided last minute to not let E run with her, which of course, caused massive waterworks (what E bunny constantly does right now anyway), so I had to run with her and wasn't even able to see the other 2 cross the line. This is the only picture I got:
Besides the fun run, I worked in TYKE that morning, and had to go to a Girl Scout parent meeting about the fall product sales while the kids were in Pioneers Club.
September 13, the next day, was yet another scout meeting, except it was IC's pack meeting. He recieved his belt loops and beads for things he did over the summer at camp.
Friday, while the kids were at school, I went to a lady's house. Barb had been a long-time member of our art club and passed away a few months ago. Her daughter, wanted our club to go through her art things and take what we wanted. I helped Patty start this momentous project. Barb did oil, watercolor, a little acrylic painting AND lots of drawing. She stretched her own canvas' and had a LARGE number of supplies. Her daughter kept drawing things, but allowed us to take paints, canvas', and other miscellaneous art supplies. I also gained a much, needed portable easel. The only drawback to all of this-she was a heavy smoker. I've spent a lot of time cleaning off supplies, but that's ok. One can not knock art supplies given.
Saturday, was a home day. We have enjoyed those a lot this fall-it's good to be at home. Sometimes Bouncing B comes in the yard and the kids have a good time, as they are all finally getting along again. There for awhile, IC was having major conflicts with her, but things are good right now. The kids ride their bikes a lot. E bunny is a little left out, though. She doesn't like to ride a bike yet and the older ones don't want her around as much. She has been spending more time with Daddy, wanting to be with him in whatever he's doing-this is not always convenient for him.

The First Week of September
Seems like the week has drug along, but yet, it's the end of the week already.
Tuesday was a busy day. I got to send the kids on the bus, as the driver had called last week and said that the route changed enough that the kids could get on at 7:25 instead of 6:40-awesome, now I don't have to run them into town every day this semester.
I headed to Grand Island to get the State Fair entries, do a little shopping at Hobby Lobby and at Kohl's (for me!) before heading home to get some things and E bunny together and head to town to run errands before getting the kids from school.
Then, it was head to York for IC's guitar lessons, though there was no gymnastics classes. Then, after a run to Walmart and eating, we headed to town to a Girl Scout meeting. That made the night kinda late for the kids to get to bed, but oh well. We lost 2 girls to Brownies, but are looking to gain 5-which is great!
Wednesday, after the kids left, I headed to my friend's Jenny's house for an all-too-short visit before going back to town to get E bunny.
In the evening, I took all 3 kids to Pioneers Club for their first night, while I went to choir practice.
Thursday, in the wee morning, E bunny came downstairs with a temperature and the thought of vomiting. Lovely-only 3 weeks into school and the sick-yuck has already started. She did end up getting sick once. After I got the other kids up from bed, she was acting better and so my MIL came to watch her while I went to a needed back appointment. She did alright throughout the day, but by evening was dragging and feverish.
Early this morning, it was back to the vomiting-this time twice and a higher fever. After I got the big kids off to school, I finally got some medicine to stay down and by mid-morning, her appetite returned. She did end up having a HUGE nap, sleeping through dinner, but is now playing Pokemon with IC and Miss A before the kids go out to play (I think they are waiting on Daddy to come back from running errands in town). Hopefully, this fever thing takes a hike, as she's been miserable long enough. We'll have to see.

Labor Day
Today feels like Sunday, but oh well. It was a good day at home. We started the morning laying around the house. Mid-morning, the kids decided to go outside and "help" JJ dig potatoes. Then, it was do things like laundry, change the kids' beds, and make dinner. That was done in between reading :) It is a holiday, after all.
After dinner, the girls went with JJ in the tractor awhile and I let IC watch a little TV. By the time they came back, we were outside. I picked up things around the yard, and JJ finished digging the potatoes. We took down the sheep fence from this summer and helped JJ with chores.
All in all, a nice day at home!

A Day At The State Fair
Sunday, Sept 2, we headed to the State Fair. We checked out our fair entries, watched a grape-squashing contest, walked through the various animal barns, ate fair food (nothing on a stick, mind you) and then went into the exhibition building. I love walking through the various vendors, JJ doesn't, but I don't really care, he can do it anyway. In one area was by the wheat board. The girls got to play in the "wheat box" and had a good time.
The kids also tried to milk the cow. This cow is at the fair every year and every year it's nearly impossible to milk! They tried hard and IC got a little bit of water to come out, but I don't think the girls did as well.
On our way to the 4-H/FFA exhibit building, we stopped to watch an acrobat show. They were very good and rather brave, as the wind had picked up by then and on the poles they were 60 feet in the air!
In the 4-H building, the kids got to make a rope-all 3 got to help twirl the rope-it was pretty neat and they had fun. It was one of the first times they had to wait in line and didn't complain!
Also in this building was a booth by the Strategic Air Museum and the Girl Scouts. So, the kids got to build a little and Miss A and E bunny also got to play some Girl Scout games on the computer.
It got hot by mid-day and by 4 pm, we were all tired and hot. So, we decided to head home. We didn't get to see everything, but we saw quite a bit. The kids wanted to do rides, but we decided to forgo that also. We stopped at Runza for ice cream (really cheap when you have coupons for free ice cream!) before heading home. We of course, had chores and then it was supper time. It was a pretty good time.

Hay Climbers
Yes, those are my children, risking their heads, limbs and lives in pursuit of "farm fun." Frankly, JJ must have been totally tired to let them climb and play on the hay bales. Now, since he let them do it once, he'll be constantly telling them to not do it anymore-way to go, JJ!
Healthy Breakfast
The 1st graders have been studying healthy foods and so, they had a healthy breakfast Friday morning. I helped with IC's 2 years ago when he was in 1st grade and was lucky enough to help with Miss A's this year (there were lots of parents who wanted to help, so they had to draw names, as they only needed 6 parents).
I got to do Orange Julius, as I did 2 years ago, so I was pretty comfortable with leading the 2 groups I and another parent had.
I had a good time and enjoyed myself. The kids made Orange Julius and French toast.

1st Day of Gymnastics
So, Tuesday the 28th, was the first day of gymnastics class for the girls. Miss A was first, so she gets started at 3:45. There's only 2 girls in her class, but the teacher has full classes in several other groups and hopes to move a few "up" to the adv. beginner class Miss A is in.
So, we dropped her off at class, then took IC to guitar lessons. E and I ran a couple of errands before going back to pick up IC and then go back to gymnastics.
In E's class, there's around 12-14 kids-a lot! The older 2 kids and I stayed at gymnastics so that they could work on homework. E's class ran 20 minutes late! Ugh-hopefully, that won't happen again.
The girls had fun, so it's worthwhile.

Last Week of August
It was a fairly busy week- a music committee meeting after church on Sunday,
a visit with E's TYKE teacher on Monday afternoon (she's doing fine in school),
guitar lessons and 1st gymnastics classes on Tuesday after school,
working in regular elementary class on Wednesday and choir practice that evening,
working in TYKE in the morning on Thursday, getting my staples removed
(YAY!) and having a Sunday School teacher meeting that evening and
helping with the 1st grade healthy breakfast Friday morning.
Today consisted of cleaning the house, making the kids help with said job, making the kids pick up stuff in their rooms, yelling at them for being mouthy, laundry (always), and sending them out to play with Bouncing B in the yard, not once but twice today. Yes, I am privileged she came both before and after dinner-the kids are out of my hair and away from computer and video games! I still keep tabs on them and plan to go out soon to sweep the back porch, vacuum the van and fill the van with gas for tomorrow.
IC has asked JJ to take him to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie and I put my foot down, I mean, graciously said I would stay home with the girls. I don't think they'd really enjoy that particular movie, nor do I think that they really need to see it, either. I plan to let the girls pick a better, I mean, more appropriate for them movie to watch at home. I'm looking forward to a little girly time.
