It's the last few hours of the year. Everyone on FB talks about a rough year and how they can't wait to start a new year. I don't know about it being a rough year, after all, every year has it's ups and downs throughout the 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days. There are days that make you wonder why you are on the earth, and others where you are rejoicing in the sunshine. I am just thankful. Thankful for my husband and children, my home, a farm to live on, and a God who puts up with me despite my failures. My hope for the new year is a deeper faith for me and my family members, the ability to see the many blessings around me even when the day is hard, and peace for our family.
Happy New Year!

Chuck E Cheese Fun
Wednesday, December 30:
The kids and I headed to Lincoln for dental appointments. First, we went to the mall so the girls could pick some earrings with their gift cards they got for Christmas. Then, they picked going to Chuck E Cheese for fun, so we went to eat and play a few games before the dental visits. It was a long wait at the dental office-they were pretty busy that day and we finally headed home around 4:30.

Family Christmas
Sunday, December 27:
I sang a solo in church during service and then we had a late dinner at the in-laws for Christmas. Gifts were a smaller affair this year and Miss A gave her Uncle Mark a story she'd written about him during a school assignment.

Post Christmas Day
Saturday, December 26:
The kids and I spent the day playing. Miss A got her Lego Hotel done already! and E bunny did several experiments with her science set. Then, IC took a break from programming his Lego mindstorm robot and got involved with the science fun. We made elephant toothpaste-that was fun! And yes, IC did a good job of cleaning it up when we were done.

Christmas Day
Friday, December 25:
We got to spend the day at home, just us. The girls were up at 6 ish and soon, we were all up for opening gifts. The kids all got large Lego set, IC made me a necklace tree out of wood, and JJ got a beard trimmer he picked out himself-it was fun! The kids spent all morning building and playing. I made duck for dinner and we spent the afternoon watching a movie and relaxing before chores and supper. It was great!

Christmas Eve
Thursday, December 24:
We started with a nice overnight snow.
After attending my parents' Christmas Eve service and I sang a song in it, we went back to mom and dad's for supper and gifts. After that, it was dozing on the couch while the kids watched a movie before heading home late to get people to bed.

Long Ago in A Galaxy Far Away . . . .
Wednesday, December 23:
Wednesday morning I went to a dr. appointment, then the kids and I did some shopping in Walmart. When we were done, we went to Applebees for dinner.
In the evening, we all went to York to see the new Star Wars movie. IC found a classmate/friend to sit with, while the girls sat with JJ and I. They did great at the movie and loved it. It was fun!

Church Christmas Program
Sunday, December 20:
Not great pictures, but I wasn't behind the camera-oh well. I was in charge of the 5th/6th grade choir group. IC played guitar for both O Holy Night and The First Noel. Miss A sang with the Spirit Singers and E bunny sang with the Kids of the Kingdom. Lots of singing and just a few lines read by the older kids. Other than 1 of my students nearly passing out at the end of the program, it went really well and the kids did great!
I did manage to get this picture after the program.

A New Cage and New Eats!
Saturday, December 12:
We got our new cage for the guinea pigs put together! Wedged between the piano and the Christmas tree, the corner is filled, but the piggys are happy with room to run!
This was also an afternoon of our annual dipping pretzels in chocolate and white bark. The kids do a good job of decorating and a better job of eating them!
