It's officially spring-JJ got out into the field to fertilize today.
E bunny's cold is making her fairly cranky-lots of fussing and crabbing today.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day today-we've gotten out to play for hours for the past few days. It's been GREAT!
Miss A had an Easter egg hunt at her preschool today-she was very proud of her 2 eggs, bunny pencil and egg-shaped erasers.
It's hard to believe that tomorrow is April 1.
IC has a half day of school tomorrow-he said he's looking forward to vacation.
I'm not sure why-he spends the almost whole time he's at home fighting with Miss A.
Ah well. He'll really be unhappy on Friday afternoon when I take him to the dr. to remove a mole.
Want to come along? I'm going to need some help holding him down for the whole trauma-inducing event.

Bubbles

It was another one of THOSE days, with me taking E bunny to the dr. this am for her wellness check. She's doing well at 35 inches tall and 29 lbs. She's in the 90th percent for heighth and 50% for weight. I took her even though she's got another cold, although dr. thought it might be more allergy related. If she runs a temp, she might be returning on the ear infection, so I have to keep an eye on that. After dinner, mom came to watch the kids while I took dad to the medium city for teeth work. We weren't sure if he was going to have to be knocked out, so I drove him. It turned out he didn't and would have been able to drive himself, but it turned out alright. I got to get my back adjusted, my hair cut, and a couple of things from Wal-mart.
We got back and I spent the next 2 hours outside with the girls, and IC got home on the bus in time for an hour outside. It was so nice, except for the annoying wind. The girls BEGGED to blow bubbles, so I let them. It didn't turn out too well for them, but they had fun anyway.
Today, by the way, is JJ's 36th birthday. We kinda forgot about it until close to dinner. I was kind, esp. since he doesn't give me anything half of the time, and gave him a couple of Wii games-Lego Star Wars and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter games. He also got the normal-an angel food cake-baked right out of the box.
Time to go read the directions for his Star wars game, so that maybe he can get a little instruction on how to do his game.
Because, you know, he'd never actually READ the directions himself unless he absolutely had to.

Easter Egg Hunt

It was a breezy afternoon, but at 4pm, the kids had a 10 minute frenzy to pick up prizes and candy at the Easter Egg Hunt in my old hometown.
IC and Miss A did well on their own, while E bunny had the help of Grandma K. She did well, also. IC won a prize of a big chocolate bunny-I had to repeat to him that he could only eat a little bit a day, instead of the whole thing at once!
It was enjoyable except for 2 older kids' attitudes, and then we even had time to head home, drop off stuff, eat, and head to dance class.
Exhausting, but it's all worth it.

Sunday Happenings
Today, the older 2 sang in church during service. The 3 groups of kids singing today came in as always, waving the palms since it's Palm Sunday.
Miss A had a huge smile on her face and enjoyed it.
Apparently, IC doesn't enjoy it as much, as that was the look on his face was of less enjoyment. He hasn't enjoyed Sunday School this year and doesn't like to do the actions to the songs as much anymore. Little stinker's trying to grow up too fast.
This was the first Sunday all 3 kids stayed in the pew and no one actually went to the nursery.
Surprising.
After church, we went to Pizza Hut, amid IC's problem with pizza (although he's NEVER tried it, he swears he doesn't like it). Stinker.
We could have eaten at church, but the kids and I don't really liked corned beef and cabbage. JJ does, but he's weird at times.
The older 2 have been watching Tom and Jerry cartoons this afternoon while JJ and IC are trying to put some erector set pieces together (and Miss A plays with the pieces). E is actually taking a REAL nap.
Speaking of E, she apparently came down sometime during the night, as I found her curled up on the rocking chair asleep when I got up this am. Miss A used to do that, too.
JJ insisted on watching a very boring fishing show after Tom and Jerry were done. Miss A is all ready to go fishing this summer, and has been asking about when we can go fishing every week since it started getting warm outside.
IC loves to eat fish, but has trouble really enjoying the fishing part. He likes to go with Daddy, though-I think he'd wish it would not take so long to actually catch them. He's pretty adamant about going with Dad to fish, though he ends up playing more than fishing. Miss A gets that way, some too.
Tonight is our choir's Easter concert at church, with the organ dedication prior to that. I hope my voice holds out for the music. I guess JJ is staying home with the kids, they'd be bored at the concert, and it will be 8 or afterward before it's done.
The kids have a bigger day tomorrow. School as usual, and then if it doesn't rain, I'll pick IC up from school and we'll pick up mom and go to my home town and go Easter egg hunting in the park south of my old school. I took the kids there last year, as the place I'd gone to before changed things up and I didn't like it. We don't go to the one in our town because it's HUGE, my kids would be in seperate lawns, making it hard to watch all 3, and there are few prizes. The one in my home town has small prizes along with the candy right on the ground, so it's more fair for all. After that, we'll have to pick up and head to Miss A's dance class.
It should be fun. Hopefully. :)

I'm Not As Tired As I Thought I'd be, BUT . . . . .
I'm not as tired as I thought I'd be after dragging 3 whiny kids and my mom to Lincoln in the rain today to get the kids' pictures done, BUT that doesn't mean it was all fun and roses, either.
Miss A had several fits today. She's on a demanding thing that turns into whining and crying when she doesn't get what she wants.
I've learned not to let her behavior embarrass me in public, but after whining the WHOLE time we were in Target that she wanted to ride in the cart, all after whining, crying, not sharing, being plain naughty all day (it did get somewhat embarrassing) in the picture place, I got upset-not mad, but I'd had enough. Luckily, we were headed home at that time.
IC was naughty, too. Obnoxious, not listening, mouthing off-sigh. I could blame it on the weather, but it's him right now.
E bunny was as good as a 2 yr old could be, although she was a stinker and didn't want to smile when the camera was on her. She of course, smiled when they were in between pictures. But she did so much better than the other 2.
Mom did alright-she doesn't like the big city.
And it didn't rain in the city, just on the way to and on the way home.
The picture place has the best deal in pics, but boy, it's ALWAYS full and running behind. Our appointment was at 11, we didn't start until 11:30, and didn't get out of there until around 12:30.
All in all, we did well for what we had and what we had to get done.

Packed and Ready to Go?
Kids require a lot of stuff.
Take, for instance, our day trip to the big city tomorrow for kids' pictures and IC getting chore/work boots.
I've been working on and off this past morning getting ready for tomorrow.
Just to warn you, I'm an overpacker.
I packed a bag with the kids' clothes in it. They, of course, can NOT wear one of their picture outfits to pictures because they will get it dirty before we leave TOWN. So, both picture outfits for each child are packed in a bag (or hanging on a hanger). Then there's an extra outfit for each kid because it's supposed to be colder tomorrow and it's just in case someone spills on their shirt/has an accident/diaper leak.
I actually, once did NOT bring extra clothes and paid for it-literally. Miss A decided to get a hold of a MARKER and WRITE on IC's shirt right before his dentist or eye dr. appointment or something. It was very apparent and rather tacky looking. Luckily, Grandma was along and bought him a new t-shirt.
Hence, why I pack an extra outfit for each child.
Then, I packed the diaper bag. 6 diapers, small box of wipes, Tylenol for everyone and more than enough snacks to feed an army, because yes, it's practically like that to feed 3 children during the day. E bunny herself can eat the average person out of house and home. I'll pack the water bottles and milk cups for E and Miss A tomorrow morning.
Then, I packed the activity bag. Guaranteed to keep interest for maybe, oh, a minute in the car, the activity bag has crayons, paper, at least one Leapster with cartridges, and since we are going to Lincoln, probably the portable DVD player.
The main thing I wish our van had was a DVD system in it. Right now, IC has to hold the DVD player, while Miss A watches. Unfortunately, now E likes to watch a little TV, although, she wouldn't sit for the whole hour with a movie. It won't be long before there will be a small war about the DVD player unless I can come up with an ingenius plan to make everyone happy.
Hopefully, that's it. Yes, this is my boring life, blogging about what I packed for a day trip to a city about 1 1/2 hr away.
Of course, in a couple of years, I won't have to pack half of it, so it's kinda interesting to see what I have to do now and look back later on. At least, I don't have to pack formula, baby blankets, burp rags, and a big stroller.
I still have a double stroller, but don't use it as much. Mostly, I just take the little umbrella stroller for E, which she hates to sit in, by the way, and leave the double for the big trips. Which,
I might use that double tomorrow, as Miss A still gets whiny about having to walk ANYWHERE. Yes, she can be a little on the unmotivated side/reverting to baby/whatever you want to call it.
You'd think I was getting away for the weekend, which would be nice, but I'd rather do that withOUT children-less cargo and stress that way. But, since it's pictures of the kids, I suppose I'd better take them along. :)

Exhausted
How I love my children-but oh, how they wear me out!
E bunny decided to have less than an hour nap today, making Miss A mad because then she didn't have enough time to play with the small stuff that E isn't allowed to play with.
I literally had to FORCE Miss A outside because it was a WONDERFUL 55+ degrees today with NO WIND. A feat that is unusual around this area.
We spent 2 hours outside. IC came home in time for 1 hour of that.
Then it was the usual: cleanup, supper, and bedtime for the big kids, which involves getting E out of something she's not supposed to be in every other minute.
All this fun does not include the girls fighting, putting Miss A in timeout once, IC and Miss A fighting, etc. etc. etc.
Sigh.
And to think I actually wanted 4 kids at one time.
I'm beginning to think I was crazy to push my luck with 3.

Not a Bad Day, but I'm not jumping with joy, either
I wish I could say today was a wonderful day.
Um, that's not how it's gone, unfortunately.
First of all, 1 1/2 months of sick kids has caught up with me. I've had a half of a cold/cough since Monday and although it's only Wednesday, it feels like forever that I've had it. It's just enough to make me feel crummy 3/4 of the day.
I also found out last night that my nephew has enlisted and will start basic training in June in OK. Not a tradegy mind you, but it WAS a shocker. At least, to me. I come from a family of consciencious objectors, so this is a new thing for me.
My hopeful work on the computer to earn some money isn't working out like I'd hope, so that's a disappointment.
I don't think I've accomplished anything today. At all.
I have choir practice tonight, but don't think I'll be able to sing much and we have that difficult concert coming up on Sunday. I'm supposed to sing a duet, but it's hard and the gal I'm singing with also has a hard time singing some of the notes. Last week at practice, everyone but us got compliments on their parts. So, I don't even WANT to sing on Sunday, to be honest.
I wish I had some friends to hang out with, kids that didn't want to watch TV all day, and a head that didn't feel like it's going to explode.
That's not to much to ask, is it?

A Day's Work
It's been another exhausting day.
Working on finding a job online to help ease some financial stress.
Washing mountains of laundry.
Working on pricing toys for the cosignment sale coming up next month.
Taking the girls with me to mom's to drop that stuff off that I got priced and ready. (Still have a boat load of clothes to hang and price, by the way)
Taking the screaming girls, who wanted to stay at grandma's for much longer, to town to pick up IC from school.
Coming home and trying to get things in order, put stuff away and get girls' ready to go outside to play.
Playing outside with kids for over an hour-IC's child-size basketball was delivered today by the coach. Of course, now he wants a hoop. Makes sense, I suppose.
Drag the girls back inside to get cleaned up (they wanted to go with Daddy, who didn't want them to come along, by the way).
Drag the kids to town to turn in IC's singlet-we are officially done with wrestling for the year.
Come home and make supper, and then watch IC's idea of a good cartoon the 1/2 hr before bedtime.
After the long 1/2 hr of getting the older 2 in bed, it's time to fold the mountains of laundry, and entertain E bunny until SHE's finally ready to crash.
By that time, I will be more than ready to crash myself.

Things to Think On
I'm physically relaxing today, except for working on mountains of laundry and taking down the baby crib.
But, mentally, I'm trying to figure out how to make my budget stretch for an extended time, how to get more energy because I need to get back to my workout, how to get enough time to get all my cosignment stuff worked on (especially since I'm going to need the money), how to get money from the local cosignment store lady who hasn't paid me for WAY too long, etc etc
It's just E bunny and me this morning, as the other 2 are healthy and at school. THis afternoon is KFC and Dance and it's amazing that this is the last week in March. Between illnesses and busyness, the year is nearly a 1/4 over already.
The weather is FINALLY getting nicer-which is amazing because I was beginning to thing we'd never see the end of the snow. I actually have flowers coming up-daffodils, surprise lillies, and tulips. I won't be getting any flowers this year to add to my garden due to money constraints and lack of time to care for them. Not to mention, I seem to be getting a black thumb as time goes on-haven't quite figured out how to improve that yet.
In only a month and a half, the kids will be out of school, at home all day and driving me crazy again! We've also got baseball, ragball, summer camp and VBS to go to. Most likely, we won't be taking a weekend off since money is short, although IC will be asking all the time when we can go.
It's amazing how much E has grown-talking all the time and sleeping in the big girl bed. Although, I can only understand about 1/2 of her words at the most, she still talks more and has more words than the other 2 did at her age. This means that she won't qualify for speech therapy and in 1 year, I'll be budgeting in preschool fees. Fun. I also took down the baby gate to the basement stairs this past week, since it's not needed anymore. After 6 years, it's strange not to see, much less use, that gate anymore. And, the crib also came down today, making it pretty official that there won't be any more babies for me.
It's a hard thing, and it's not. Part of me misses that baby stuff, part of me doesn't. The hardest part of it is knowing my cousin's wife is having twins-I always wanted them. It's disappointing that I never got that opportunity, but I have three healthy children that I am thankful for.
IC has grown-he's getting tall already. He can be so helpful at times and definately NOT at other times. He carried the diaper bag for me after Sunday School yesterday without even having to be asked. Of course, there's more times when he doesn't help, but it's very nice when he does. He's working very hard on his numbers and reading at school-and says right now that school is boring except for music, recess and P.E. I think he just wants to learn faster than the teacher teaches.
Miss A is still whiny and cries a lot. She's a lot like me, so we don't get along at times. She feels left out a lot, so she's craftily naughty at times. I think she'll be my biggest trouble maker. But she's warming up to playing with E much more than she used to and can get along with IC when she wants to. She wants to do the things that he does and is looking forward to Kindergarten and being 5-which in her mind, is the epitome of getting to do everything. She's not good at playing with others and tends to boss, especially E around, but IC tends to boss her around, so she doesn't steal it. She looks out for the other kids at school, so she has a sweet heart, she just has to use it at home, too, sometimes.
How much things have changed just in the past years and they continue to do so constantly. Although sometimes it's hard to see that change until you look back from where you are now.

Last Wrestling Tourney

Saturday am, JJ and I headed to Sutton for IC's last wrestling tourny. I am so glad we went and had the season end for IC on a good note.
It was a little icy that morning, esp. when I took the girls to mom's, but later it all melted and you can't hardly tell it snowed on Friday.
Anyway, IC had 3 matches and did great in all of them. He pinned a few times and held his own the rest and it was just fun to watch. The match was super-well organized and all the pre-k and K kids came home with a small trophy.
Afterward, we took the longer way home and dropped him off at mom's so I could go home and work on getting the cake done and the house ready without small children around.
It was a big day.
E's Birthday Party
Isn't she just adorable? She definately didn't get the whole "blow out the candles" thing, but she was cute anyway.

She definately got the whole "open the gifts" thing. She ripped into them without hesitation!
Miss A and Bouncing B (my niece) eating cake with their aunt.
The girls sharing a ride on E's new rocking horse.
IC somehow got Grandpa J to play Wii bowling with him. They had fun.
Then Bouncing B bowled against JJ. It was her first time on the Wii, also. She also had fun.E's birthday party was today-the final busy thing to do for this weekend. The party went well. Even BOTH of my nephews came and the annoying BIL w/wife DIDN'T, so it was all good.
E didn't get a lot of gifts, but she opened them with gusto. She and the other kids had a good time. They were all a tad loud today, which was hard on my already aching head and tired body. But, I survived.
After the party part with presents, cake and ice cream, IC got Grandpa J to try out bowling on the Wii. After some instruction from JJ, he did pretty well on it. Then, Bouncing B got to play against JJ before they left.
Now, maybe I can spend a couple of days recouping from the craziness.
Maybe.
Mommy's very tired.

Another Crazy Day

Thursday's wrestling meet at Dorchester was a tad long and boring. My mom came to watch the girls, as I had sent Miss A to school that morning, but didn't want to push having her out too fast that evening.
It was a good thing the girls didn't go.
Golly, that was the most unorganized mess we'd been to yet. It started at 6:30 and we left at 8 pm. It took a good 45 minutes between IC's matches and one of the other kids on our team had had his 3rd match before IC had gotten a 2nd match.
They just announced names over the p.a. system as the matches were coming instead of how all the others have done it-by posting names, matches, mat #'s, and bracket #'s on the wall.
IC got pinned both times and boy, did my back hurt by the end of the night.
JJ's sister and her husband came to watch IC, so that was a plus for the evening.
Yesterday's crazy day involved sending IC to school, taking the girls to the big city in which we drove there in misty/wet and came home in snow. Luckily the snow didn't stick until after we were home.
We started in Wal-mart, ate at the McDonald's in Walmart (awesomely convenient!), then headed to the Neat Repeatz cosignment sale for some kid's clothes.
I came away more short handed than I'd hoped.
I did find IC some cleats for baseball, wrestling shoes for next year and a few jean and shorts for Miss A to grow into.
The clothes were much more lower quality and there wasn't a lot there compared to the sale I take the kids' clothes to.
I still need to find IC jeans. He's had me expand the adjustable waists on all his pants as far as he can go and some have become high-waters.
The girls and I got home in time to get gas, a few groceries, pick IC up from school and head over to the Home and Garden show happening this weekend.
That was where the FUN for the day ended.
IC crabbed he didn't want to go (even though the day before he was happy about it), corraling the girls was difficult, and I didn't get to linger much as the kids were just not cooperative.
I got 2 pens-the kids fared better than I did, but maybe next year it will be better (I hope).
I got home and worked on putting supplies away, baths and supper, baked E's cake (and then later, accidently stuck my finger in it! Go figure-it was looking beautiful, for once), and folded 1/2 of the mountain of laundry I have.
Today, I've already taken the girls to mom's and JJ, IC and I are headed to Sutton shortly for IC's last wrestling tourney.
If we get home by 1 pm, IC will join the girls at mom's so I can decorate E's cake.
Somehow, I have to get the kitchen floor cleaned, the carpet vacuumed, toys moved out of the way and the rest of the laundry folded and put away before the party tomorrow.
Sigh.

Too Busy
I am running today and tomorrow to do extracurricular activites AND get ready for E bunny's party on Sunday. It snowed today-ugghh! This is greatly unhelpful.
Will regal with my adventures as soon as I can.

Sleepless night
For some reason, I couldn't sleep last night even though I was plenty tired by the time I got home from choir practice at 9 pm.
Of course, I come in to a house w/dishes piled high in the sink, 4 baskets of laundry to fold, cosignment sale stuff to work on, vacuuming and the kitchen floor to clean yet, and piles of "stuff" to sort through before Sunday.
And JJ wonders why I cussed when I walked in the door.
I did manage to get the dishes cleaned and a shower taken, but by then, it was time to get E bunny off to bed.
Then, I had to camp in her room until she AND Miss A fell asleep. Miss A apparently had the insomnia for most of the night, then she woke at 1:30 am in a cough-fit, requiring cough medicine.
She got up rather tired this am, but wanted to go to school. Since she wasn't running a temp, I sent her on the bus this am. She's missed her friends and school all this week and was bummed about missing yesterday again.
E bunny decided to get up with the big kids, now SHE's dragging because she usually sleeps in 'til 9 am.
I had E open a gift from us and one from IC this am before the kids left for school.
Poor E wanted to go with them to school. She hates being left behind.
She's not going to like it tonight, when she gets left w/Miss A at home w/grandma babysitting while JJ and I take IC to his wrestling dual.
Ah Well. If she doesn't get sick, Miss A feels ok, and the weather holds, I am taking the girls with me to a cosignment sale in the big city in the morning, then we'll pick up IC from school and go to the Home and Garden show in town.
It's supposed to rain, then turn into snow by the evening, but I'm hoping the weather fools the weatherman and they turn out to be wrong.
This will probably be one of those times when the weatherman is actually accurate. Of course, I could look at 3 different weather sites until I find the weather report I'd prefer. :)

Sunday Fun

Despite the fact it was a tad chilly outside, IC was still recovering from croup and Miss A was getting started with it, we went outside to play for a short while.
Personally, Mommy would have just preferred to stay in, but we went out and got some fresh air and exericise.
Miss A spent a lot a time having meltdowns, though, which wasn't pleasant.
We are definately looking forward to warmer weather and playing outside more.
All is Not Lost
I was able to fix my photo printer (yay!). It's amazing how one small thing can mess up a whole machine. So, all is not lost or headed to the repair shop. :)
I need to remember that when I'm dealing with bad attitudes, kids that fight, and shortages of time.
Miss A is feeling somewhat better today, I think. She actually cared about more than just laying on the recliner today.
Of course, that means she fought with Ellie (over EVERYTHING). But, it's a start. She's actually not coughing as much as IC was. IC, by the way, skipped after school program yesterday, as he was beat. He's still coughing a little and a little hoarse, but is getting better daily.
E is cranky on and off. I hope her medicine for her ear infection is working and that she's not headed toward this croup thing. She has a tendency to get majorly sick when others are just a little sick. She knows how to do it well, I guess.
Tonight is basically the last practice for wrestling. IC has a dual on Thursday and maybe a tournament on Saturday (if we decide to go).
I saw the sun for a minute a couple of times today-hopefully, this will become a habit soon.
The road maintainer went on our road yesterday and today. Hopefully, he's IMPROVING it and not making it worse.
I've gotten a few things done in preparation for E's party. I'm trying very hard to be positive that everyone will be healthy by Sunday and that it will stick for awhile.
Back to work-this house really is a mess!

#2 Down For the Count and other stuff
I actually got to send IC to school today.
Miss A, on the other hand, will be home most likely all week.
I thought I'd be frazzled with another sick child and trying to get ready for next Sunday. Along with the fact that E could easily come down with this and we'd end up postponing her party and having to run into Easter as a problem.
I guess all that prayer worked last week-I'm not worried. It wouldn't be the first birthday party I've postponed and probably not the last, either.
I'm actually just finding myself working on cleaning up the clutter in the house, like my original plan.
Man, can stuff pile up.
And papers! Wow, do Kindergarteners bring home a TON of papers or what? Of course, I'm not allowed to get rid of too many right now. But, I've made an investment in a kid's art portfolio for each child to keep several years of papers in. We'll have to sort through things when they get here.
On top of that, are the many papers that I am accumulating. It's definately time to clean.
And yes, the girls are watching too much TV today. What else can you do with a sick 4 yo? She feels pretty awful and I'm not going to make the whole day boring because letting the TV on is bad for you. At least, for today, we'll lift the TV restriction.
Now, my photo printer's on the fritz. I just got the laptop back to working and now I can't print off pictures.
Sigh. If it's not one thing, it's another.
Must be a sign to get back to work.

On the Mend
Miss A's starting with some congestion today and I think she's getting IC's croup. Lovely.
IC stayed home from Sunday School today, but he's feeling much better. His voice is gravily (is that a word?) and he coughs a little, but he's trying to get Daddy to go outside and it's chilly and wet. Plus, I've heard him torment Miss A several times this afternoon.
He's DEFINATELY feeling better.
Yay! It's only been 5 days, but I'm so happy he can go to school tomorrow!
We've got a full week this week with something going on everyday, plus I'll be getting ready for E bunny's birthday party next Sunday.
Barring that Miss A and E bunny don't get as sick as IC. I'm hoping that E bunny won't get this mess and that Miss A's will be a lighter case.
We'll just have to see.

Outside Time

Not quite.
THIS is more what the day was REALLY like:
THIS is more what the day was REALLY like:
But, I'm not.
It's Day 5 of IC being sick. And, it started out poorly with crabby, bored children and a Mommy ready to lose her mind. There was some conflict in the morning, and actually, part of the afternoon, also.
It did get better at 4:30 pm, when we all headed out the door. This was the first day the whole spring break that it was NOT raining. It wasn't horribly chilly and the sun attempted to shine a few times.
We stayed out about 1 1/2 hours and we hadn't been outside hardly all week.
It was good, despite the mud.
The kids visited Daddy, played on the swings and slide and in the sandbox. All the stuff we LOVE to do.
All in all, the day was 50/50 (good vs. bad). I am SO hoping IC will be better tomorrow and that the girls don't get what he has.
Maybe I can get some vacation when the older 2 go back to school. :)

Plus and Minus for the Day
A few minus' today:
This morning I took the troup to the dr. IC has croup and Ellie has an ear infection. We were 50 minutes in the dr office, with most of that time waiting in the boring room with no toys for the kids to play with.
THEN we had to go to the pharmacy. And anyone who knows our pharmacy knows that a wait there is 45 minutes MINIMUM.
No, I'm not kidding.
I am stiff, sore and headachy today as I slept on IC's floor last night because his congestion made me nervous.
It's cold and windy and it SNOWED this morning.
I think the kids are bored being inside and I'm bored being at home.
For the plus side:
The county FINALLY put up a "Rough Road speed limit 25 mph" sign today on OUR road! Not that people will really heed it, but it's a nice try.
Miss A is healthy, just her normal whiny self.
The kids are FINALLY playing nice at 2:45 pm. It won't last, but it's nice for the moment.
I've gotten a few pages of E's baby book worked on and have 3 more pages already planned.
There's always the hope that the kids will feel better, the weather will get better and I'll get some sleep tomorrow.
Here's hoping for the best.

Coughs, Rain, and Frustration
Coughing, sore throat, fever and rain. This was NOT how I had hoped the kids' spring break would be spent.
IC is still sick this am, and his fever is 1 degree higher than yesterday. His barking cough and sore throat is tough to get rid of. I am hoping he starts getting better tomorrow or I'll be calling the dr. office.
For a vacation, I've actually been getting up EARLIER than I usually do. IC's been waking between 5-6 am, needing something-mostly medicine for his headache/sore throat. E bunny's been waking around 6 am, coughing. She's on the downhill for this cold but still has copious amounts of a snotty nose and coughs, mainly when she's laying down. Miss A's been complaining of headaches the past couple of days, and I'm hoping SHE's not starting this whole mess too. She just got done with a cold and doesn't need another one.
The only good thing about this being ove spring break is that the kids don't miss much school and I don't have to spend every morning debating if I need to take them or keep them home.
This rain, though, has completely gotten on my nerves. I mean, it's been rainy for nearly a week. The roads are awful, the mud's just getting deeper-it's just miserable. If it weren't for the fact that we suffered through mountains of snow, lakes of mud from that snow melting, and haven't actually had the chance to really dry out yet, it might not be so bad.
I had originally planned to take the kids to the big city tomorrow for pictures. Well, that's not going to work. IC won't feel up to it, I'm sure and E still has a runny nose, causing her face to have red areas from multiple nose wipings daily.
My back up plan is to do it in 2 weeks on a Saturday. Saturdays are NOT ideal, but we'll have to just go with it. Next week, is a rather busy week-the last of IC's wrestling, choir practice, the home and garden show in town (a favorite I like to go to) and getting ready for E bunny's birthday party.
My husband asked me the other night why I always stress with big weeks-I don't know. Part of it's the running around constantly while thinking that at home there's a million things to get done, part of it's dragging a near-2 yo around who can be a REAL pain to entertain, part of it's just me-I just stress easily.
But, I'll deal with it-I always do. AND everyone better be healthy by E's party and STAY healthy for a REALLY LONG TIME. Or, I may just have to lose my mind.
Then I wouldn't have to worry about long weeks, fighting kids and 3 inches of mud.
OK, I'd rather worry about that stuff than lose my mind, but you all know what I mean.

E's New Bed

HA HA, E decided to "make" her bed on the piano bench the other night. This is actually the corner where the piano used to stand. It's now full of toys!
I decided to get E started on getting her own big girl bed. She's been climbing into the crib when the other kids are playing on their beds, or even just to look at books.
I tried to convince Miss A to move back to the top bunk, but nothing doing. So, we took the bunk down today. IC did a good job helping, despite his cold, 99 degree temp, cough and sore throat. (I didn't make him, he volunteered and he's just sick enough to be annoyed, not down and out).
He and I did the whole rearranging, with Daddy only having to help put the bed down. It's a little scrunchie in there and will be until the crib is out. I am hoping E will want to be completely out of the crib soon (MY goal is Easter, but we'll see what HER goal will be!).
I don't want her to grow up too fast, but I also don't want her to destroy the crib (as it's not ours, it's my SIL).
At least, it kept the kids busy for most of the morning!

So excited!
The best news I've had for awhile involves the return of my laptop to complete use.
I can finally post pictures again, YEAH!
Having to go back over a week to post pics took awhile-wow!
At least I'm caught up for a little bit.
Now, if I could just get the kids healthy, and the rain to stop for a month, we'd be doing stellar!

Rain Day
Today's 2nd in a row rainy day is quickly beginning to match where I mood has moved.
I started out the morning tired, but not crabby. Unfortunately, crabbiness is a little more apparent as the hour gets later.
It all started at 2:30 am this morning when IC woke up very upset with a hefty headache. I spent the next 2 1/2 hours camped out on the floor of his room until he fell asleep. He was also running a 100.8 temp.
At 7 am, when it was time for him to get up, he was still at 99. 7 and croupy with a cold. He had been excited to go to school in his pjs since today was Dr. Suess day, but he didn't even mention that, so I knew he didn't feel all that great.
Well, he feels great now. By 2:30, he was complaining he was bored and wished he was in school.
And if I would have sent him, I'd have gotten a call from the school, I'm sure.
Ah well.
On top of that, E bunny decided that she was only going to take a nap for an hour today.
Not convenient, that's for sure.
It's been raining on and off all day today, like it did yesterday. Ugghh. The mud is near-unbearable.
And I can't even send the hooligans outside, as it's just wet and miserable and horribly muddy.
So, now they are doing the naughty fighting and wrestling with each other. Sigh.
To end this lovely day, it's parent-teacher's conference tonight for IC. Apparently, Miss A is doing well in TYKE, and the teacher doesn't feel a need to meet.
Fine by me. Meeting with IC's teacher is enough.
JJ actually is planning on going. So, we'll drop the kids off at my MIL's for the 20 minutes we'll be at the conference.
At least, I'll have 20 minutes of peace tonight.

Weighty Issues
I worked this morning putting the ever-constant baskets of laundry away.
Mainly because I needed the baskets for the loads of laundry I'm washing TODAY.
Anyway, I looked in my very messy closet, which is now on my list of things to-do soon. It needs a MAJOR sprucing/organizing.
Anyway, I realized about 1/2 of my clothes I have don't fit anymore.
Sigh. Pregnancy can do a number on your body.
Especially 3 in 4 years' time. And it doesn't help if you have obese relatives and you yourself was a little heavy in high school.
I was at a good weight when I first got pregnant with IC and managed to be back down to that weight by the time I was pregnant with Miss A.
Unfortunately, it goes downhill from there.
Since January of this year, I have been trying to exercise more and eat less in order to lose a vast amount of the weight I've had for awhile.
But, it hasn't gone well. I saw a picture of me in January with family and ICK! It was not ideal.
I was hanging in there for awhile and then, kids sicknesses struck.
For over a month now, I've had one sick kid after another, sometimes 2 at a time. Coupled with some stressors of other nature and I'm back to my old habits again.
So, I'm back to resolving to getting into the frame of mind of trying to lose this weight or at least lose some inches.
I'd like to get back into the clothes I used to wear, but decided if I keep working at it and it doesn't happen, I'm cleaning out that closet and getting rid of the excess.
At least, then, JJ can't complain about the closet being too full.

New Layout

I've found a few moments here and there lately to work on E bunny's baby scrapbook.
I'm up to the first few days she was home.
She'll be 2 in a couple of week, by the way.
I guess I can at least be proud I have the thing STARTED.
After all, I just got Miss A's first year done and IC is up to his 3rd year.
So much work to do, so little time.
I'll keep plugging away at it. I DO enjoy it a lot. I just wish I had them "caught up" more.
The plan: to get caught up by each one's graduation. :)

Sidewalk Color

The older 2 kids were getting close to driving me up the wall and then work on killing each other.
BUT . . . . . .
We were saved, at least for a small while.
When I saw my BIL in the yard, I kept a close eye out. The minute I saw my niece, I mentioned that she was in the yard.
I knew I'd get the response I got:
"I'm going outside!"
YES!! I got what I wanted - the kids to have some fresh air, be out of the house, where it's less likely they'll fight as much, and a little time to myself. (E's taking a nap).
I even let them break out the new sidewalk chalk, since there's actual sidewalk that's clear of snow for them to draw on.
Sigh. Just listen to the silence.

IC's First Pin
Daddy stretching w/IC pre-wrestling time.
Coach encouraging IC after his first match when he went up a VERY experienced kid.
The match where IC got his first pin!
Participation medal. So proud of his effort!Last night, JJ and I took IC 1/2 hr away to a wrestling tourney. Since there had been a dual the night before (that we didn't go to), there was only a handful of our kids there. This was ok, because then the coach actually had time to watch IC and give him some advice and encouragement.
IC did great! The first boy he competed against it turned out, was from Kansas and had been going to meets since November. This was the first meet he'd been to that DID NOT keep score! Wow! They must be more competitive down south! Anyway, he pinned IC a few times, but Karla J. told JJ that of the four boys that competed in IC's group, IC was the only one who held his own long enough to give the kid a run for his money. The other 3 were pinned right away.
The 2nd boy, IC was able to pin twice! It was exciting to see him pin for once and it was good to give him the chance to feel what it was REALLY like to pin someone.
The 3rd boy was an even match for IC and IC was able to scrap enough to get the upper hand at times and to overcome his opponent at times. He didn't officially pin the boy but held his own and did great!
I was super-proud of how well he did.
Of course, Miss A decided right before we left, that she wanted to go with us, resulting in tears when we left. Miss A was very bored at last week's tourney, so I knew she'd be bored again and was glad that mom and later dad stayed with the girls. E bunny was still running a temp last night when we got home, so she definately could not have gone.
It was 9 pm before we got the older 2 into bed, since we left Miss A stay up until we got home. Of course, E wanted to be up late again last night, causing JJ and I to doze off while she played. I finally jerked awake at 10:30 and pushed E to bed. She has a tendency to be a night owl, like Miss A. I was really hoping she'd be more of an early bird like IC. Ah well.
Back to IC. Even though IC didn't say much, I think he was proud of the 2 participation medals he has now from his 2 tourneys. He was wearing them both right before bed last night. We don't have plans to go to any tourneys next week, but the following week after spring break, there's a triangular in Dorchester. I had orginally thought we would not go, since it's on a Thursday. But, it's the last one and I think we WILL go. Then IC will have gone to 3 duals his first year. That seems like a good amount, I think.
Our friend, who has 2 boys in wrestling, one in high school and one in pee wees, said that they didn't send the younger boy to a bunch of meets the first couple of years. She said it's better to basically keep him interested until around 4th grade, when they get competitive for real and it gets more fun for them. Sounds like good advice to me. If we wanted, we could take him to several meets, although the coaches aren't at very many. There's even another today (Saturday), but we elected to not make Miss A miss her make-up dance class, we would have had to get up early since it's a morning event, JJ didn't want to go to more than one this weekend, and E bunny's still not going to be feeling up to it.
I don't think there's a need to be gung-ho right now and go to everything. He is, after all, only 6.
Burn out at age 9, would NOT be good.

Guess What?
You never guess . . . we finished calving today! Wheee!!!!
Our last 2 babies were born this afternoon. It's a good day, despite runny noses and fevers.
Our last 2 babies were born this afternoon. It's a good day, despite runny noses and fevers.
It's Friday!
Well, E is still running a temp with a massive runny nose and barky cough today. Yuck.
We had a rash of illnesses last year during Feb-Mar, too. Must be the time of year when everyone's run down and the virus' gain strength.
I'm pretty tired today. E slept last night most of the night, but not the night before and I'm still trying to recover from being up for hours.
My mom is coming this afternoon to take care of the girls for a couple of hours, while JJ and I take IC to his wrestling tourney at Thayer Central.
I'm looking forward to getting out of the house for a little bit and away from snot. Yep, it's that bad.
It's been very decent weather the past couple of days and it's supposed to stay around 50 degrees (whoo hoo!) BUT believe it or not, there's a chance for a thunderstorm EVERY day for the next 5 days.
Can you believe that? Thunderstorms!
At this point, we might as well add to the mud. At least, if it does rain, that will help melt the snow faster. But boy, our road is FINALLY just GETTING PASSABLE. Ah well.
I am supposed to get a new external hard drive on Monday, which means . . . PICTURES. I can not wait to post pictures next week. Whoot!
Time to go tear Miss A away from the TV. Not a fun job sometimes.

Time to Celebrate!
Despite sick kids, mud up to our armpits and busy days -
There's hope!
I just saw 6 robins in my yard.
Spring is just around the corner!
Whoo Hoo!!!!!!!

Sick Again
Poor E, she's sick again.
What started as a nasty cold, courtesy of Miss A, has an added twist with a fever.
E went to bed well last night, but was up at midnight fussing. Her temp was 102.5, so I gave her some Tylenol. Of course, I had just washed the medicine syringe that afternoon, so I had to dig it out of the dish drainer full of clean dishes. All my rummaging woke up JJ. Ah well. I held her awhile and after living with her squirming all over me, I decided to take her back to bed.
Of course, she then promptly threw up on me, her and the carpet. Yippee yay.
JJ didn't get up to help, so I cleaned up us both and the floor. We settled back down in the rocking chair and THEN JJ decided to get up. He couldn't sleep, so he went in the office to do paperwork.
After awhile, I tried again to take her up and camped on the floor awhile. When I got up to leave, she started fussing, so back to the floor I went.
She continued to fuss, so back downstairs we went to rock. Then, back up to bed. JJ did try to take her a couple of times, but she refused, wanting Mommy instead.
At 4:30, I finally got to sneak away to my own bed.
At 6 am, it was fussing again. This time JJ got up before I could even move, I was that tired. E did protest Daddy at first, but he and her settled on the couch and went to sleep.
I let myself sleep in 'til 6:30, so I did very little before getting the other 2 up for school.
I was able to do a small amount of cleaning while I am currently waiting for E to wake up. It's not a lot but will probably have to do for this week.
I hope this doesn't last long, E's been sick enough lately.

Mud

I finally got the girls outside to play today. Actually, the challenge lies in Miss A. She is not an outside girl, but once you get her actually outside, then she doesn't always want to go in. Go figure.
She did get to chore w/Daddy tonight, and that was really needed, so it's all good.
And all mud. Holy cow, there's mud everywhere that isn't still covered in snow and ice.
I knew it was coming, but yuck.
Total yuck. You really don't want to see the kids' coveralls. It's a good thing they have muck boots and coveralls.
JJ spends half of his day draining water or smoothing the rough spots in the driveway or on our road.
Fun. (That's sarcastic, by the way, it's hard to really express that in type)
On the REAL fun side, E bunny now says "pin" all the time. AKA: Pink
This means that she thinks that everything she has needs to be pink. Sometimes she says it when something's purple, too.
She actually had a fit the other day when I got her out a green straw cup. She informed me that she had to have the pink cup instead. Okay Dokay.
Just for you, babe.
