We are officially at 15 days of online distance learning for school. A LOT has happened since I posted after our first couple of days at home. We are officially now home for the rest of the school year. All of our April and May activities are cancelled. Hopefully, there will still be some sort of 8th grade graduation and hand-printing at the school for Miss A. We usually spend Monday-Friday mornings online/working on homework and then the girls usually have a 1:30 class after lunch. After that, they are usually done, though Miss E puts off stuff and I spend a lot of my day pushing her to keep up with her homework. IC and Miss A keep up with their own assignments, so I don't have to push them. IC spends a lot of time in his room, Miss A is about 1/2 and 1/2-she does all her school work in her room and spends time downstairs with E and me in the afternoons usually and E spends most of her time downstairs. She does her school work at the kitchen table and has a lot of her stuff set in the livingroom.
I did have to help Miss E with her science fair project. Since school is not at school, Miss E doesn't have to make a board and set up her experiment to show people, but she still had to do it and will have to put together a google slide presentation for her teacher. Her experiment had to do with animals and seeing if they have a paw preference, like people have a hand preference. She used the farm cats.
The weather has been hit or miss. It's beautiful and warm enough to go outside and do things and then it will be cold and miserable for a few days before returning back to nice weather (typical spring in NE.)
The girls do have to get some PE time during the week, and we have done things like go to the high school track to walk, play volleyball and softball, and I have walked some on the roads, but the traffic is now higher since the weather is warmer/dryer and so it's more dangerous.
I have let Miss A drive to town or in the country several times to give her more practice in driving. I only go to town for groceries and IC only goes to town to work at the grocery store. We are trying to keep ourselves as isolated as possible to prevent being exposed to corona.
I have been working on sewing masks but I have a love/hate relationship with sewing, so it's going rather slow.
With the warmer weather, the girls have been starting to go fishing some. They mostly have fished here at our pond. Unfortunately, while the girls were down at the pond, Lucy decided to flush a skunk out of the bushes, causing the stinking thing to spray (at least it wasn't at the back door this time!). The girls ended up stinking, but not getting hit directly, although Lucy got a direct hit. So, I was doing a load of laundry last night and had the girls do a heavy shower regimen. They luckily came out smelling ok, their clothes will need another round of washing, though.
So, this is where we are for the moment.
