This coming week will be another busy one-Miss A has softball practice twice, I work 4 days this week, the kids have dental appointments on Monday after school, IC has baseball practice, and Pioneers club has their last meeting for the year on Wednesday.
And this isn't even the BUSY week-next week is by far the hardest with a choir director meeting next Sunday, baseball and softball practices, cub scout meetings, regular Tuesday activities plus a girl scout meeting, fun run, 1st grade talent show, my nephew's graduation, and I work the WHOLE week.
I have to admit, I am ready for school to be out for awhile.

A Day At Home, Mostly
We are officially pretty much on our own right now, as JJ has started planting and is working hard to get as much done as possible before the next rain. So, Saturday, the 27th, the kids and I hung out at home (whoo hoo!) before getting ready to head in the evening to the movie "The Croods" in town. Our big surprise was when JJ showed up right before the movie started! His brother actually took over with the planting and so he was able to come-the kids were thrilled!
Here are our chickens, growing everyday! We are still waiting on our rabbits and sheep-they should be coming soon.

1st Grade Field Trip
Miss A's First Grade class went on a their field trip to the Children's Zoo Friday. I was not a sponsor, but drove separately and helped the mom who was leading her group, as there were 6 kids to keep track of! It was a quick trip through the zoo, watching the penguins get fed, riding the train, feeding the goats, and eating lunch before heading home before school got out.
Kindergarten Roundup
Friday started a busy day with taking E bunny to Kindergarten Roundup. E has Mrs. M-the same teacher Miss A had and get this-in Miss A's class there were 2 girls named A and in E's class this next year, there's 2 girls named E!
I left E in good hands-she looked like she was having a good time, though she got a little bashful when we first got there. There's to be about 20 kids in each class and there's several in E's class that she knows already.

Nursery Rhyme Time
Tuesday morning, E had a little performance in TYKE. The kids recited some nursery rhymes and showed us a little about what their morning meeting time is about.
Girl Scout Busy Meeting
This past week has been busy with baseball practices, a sick boy on Monday, work on Tuesday, volunteering in Miss A's room for the last time this year, and the regular stuff.
Tuesday, at the girl's Girl Scout meeting, the girls rotated between 3 stations-a scrapbooking one, making a paper doll for the bridging ceremony, and tie-dying a t-shirt. It ended up going a little later than usual, but the girls had a good time.

New Instrument
Sunday, the 21st, after church, we headed to Lincoln to search for a keyboard for Miss A, since she is going to be taking piano lessons this summer, and bigger baseball shoes for IC.
It looks pretty fancy, but it was on clearance and not as expensive as a regular piano. We're pretty happy with it.

Girl Scout Overnight Again
Friday, April 19, Miss A had a Girl Scout event in the evening. At least, it was in town. There were about 47 girls total who attended, from several surrounding communities and several not in girl scouts, too. The girls got to go to the theater and see the "Bee Movie" and play some games at our church's fellowship hall before staying overnight. Miss A and (E bunny, who did NOT stay overnight) had a pretty good time, I believe.
Making Halters and So On
Hard to believe another 2 weeks have past since I last posted. We've been busy with a 4-H meeting on the afternoon of the 14th, in which the kids made rope halters:
Then, the rest of the week involved working 3 days, volunteering in Miss A's room on Wednesday, the regular gymnastics and guitar on Tuesday, a Kindergarten parent meeting, baseball practice, pioneers club, regular doctor checkups for all 3 kids, and a birthday bowling party for IC to go to on Saturday, the May 20.
Gee, I can't see why I haven't been able to keep up with the blog, can you?

The chicks have been growing like crazy!

Haymaker's Football Game
Saturday night, my mom and dad stayed with the girls, while JJ and I took IC to the Lincoln Haymaker's Indoor Football game. It was a little exciting, as the score was close in the end and yet, a little boring. It was something we can say we did and we don't have to do again! Our team lost to the Omaha Beef by 7 points.
We got up close and personal with Haywire, the mascot, as we met him in the hallway, and IC got to shake his hand and then, in the middle of the game, he climbed over the seats to have a little fun with our audience. He was a pretty personable mascot-that was more fun to watch than the game at times!

Children's Museum Sleep Over
Friday, the 12th, after work, Miss A and I got ready to go to Lincoln. IC decided to stay home and hang out with JJ, since he wasn't in the field, E bunny went to stay overnight at my mom's, and Miss A and I went with 9 other Girl Scouts to the Children's Museum for an overnight stay.
The girls had a blast! They got to play in the museum to themselves, except for another small troop that was there (they were unexpected, and weren't really supposed to be there, but the gals couldn't turn them away). They did a little dance for us troop leaders and moms that came with them, watched Madagascar 3 on the big screen, slept overnight in the basement, and then played the next morning after breakfast.
We arrived home tired but early, as it was 9:30 am Saturday morning. I spent the rest of the day washing clothes and getting ready to leave in the evening for yet another trip to Lincoln, only it was just for the evening.

Back to Snow, Again
April 8-12th, I didn't have to work as much- only 2 days. I did go to Lincoln to take spring clothes the kids outgrew to a twice a year cosignment sale. Luckily, it only rained that day-the next day, it snowed. We decided to miss Pioneers Club, since the roads were yucky. Thursday, IC was supposed to have his first baseball practice, but because of the snow and cold, it was cancelled. We went to the Arrow of Light ceremony instead for the cub scouts bridging to Boy Scouts.
This April's been wild with nice weather for a couple of days, then cold and snow for 4-5 days. Yuck. I am SO ready for the spring. I have some nice narcissis blooming, and then, they got covered under a layer of ice, and then, they thawed out again!

Acolyting and Powder Puff Derby
Sunday, April 7, was camping Sunday at church. We talked about camp during both Sunday School and service. IC was also acolyte. This is his 3rd time this school year and I FINALLY remembered to take a picture!
I know, my picture is dark, but I just had my little backup camera with me, not my nice one. It worked good enough.
In the afternoon, we headed to the Powder Puff Pinewood Derby for our Girl Scouts.
JJ and IC did the track stuff, since JJ took responsibility to get the track from our cub scouts and set it up. JJ put the cars on the track and IC set them to run. Miss A was thrilled to get first place in the race!
Congratulations Miss A!

Saturday's Fun
Saturday, the 6th, we headed to York for all 3 kids to have eye exams. I wasn't going to do IC's, since he'd only had glasses for 6 months, but he was complaining a little about not seeing as well and had gone from just using glasses for distance reading to wearing them all the time.
It turns out, neither of the girls need glasses, but IC does! Already, his eyes have changed. Since we were getting new lenses for his current glasses, we also decided to get him a set of sport glasses. He will soon start baseball and he'll need them also for basketball next winter.
After we got home, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon. The girls got out the kite and flew that for awhile and just enjoyed the nice day.
