Sunday Sing

It was the girls' turn to sing in church today.  All the choirs sing next week in church, so they get to sing 2 times in a row!

Horse Riding

So, IC wanted a chance for a ride on a horse, and he got that chance on the 25th for a few minutes.  Now, HE wants to ride more!

Family Pumpkin Patch

On Friday, the 25th, we had fall break, so the kids and I went to JK's Pumpkin Patch.  It was very low-key, since E and I had already been to Roca for the Kindergarten field trip.  The kids still had fun (even IC) and all got a huge pumpkin to carve!  We spent about 1 1/2 hours there, before getting something to eat in Lincoln and heading home.  We had piano lessons at 2:45 and horse riding lessons at 4 pm (had to change from Saturday morning plan) and then dropped Miss A off at the pastor's house so she could go to their girls' Halloween party.  She had a lot of fun and wasn't ready to go home at 9:30!

Leaf Fun!

We always rake up some of our massive amount of leaves so the kids can jump in them-so on the 22nd, when we were home, the kids did that!  They always have fun and jump into the pile for days afterward.

Backstage at the Ballet

The Girl Scouts were invited to go "backstage at the Nutcracker ballet" on Saturday, the 19th.  They got to design a costume, decorate a tiara, put on a little makeup, and dance to the Russian dance.  They had a great time!  They will get to see the Nutcracker in December.

Girl Scout Halloween Party

October 15 was our Girl Scout troop's Halloween party. It was chilly, but we managed to roast hotdogs and marshmellows, paint our pumpkins we'd gotten from the pumpkin patch and play.

Cub Scout Campout

Saturday, the 12th, was the cub scout troop's annual campout at Swan Lake.  I took IC to it and later, when JJ was done harvesting for the day, he came and I went home so that I could get up in time for teaching Sunday School.  My mom stayed with the girls until I got back.

It was kinda fun-not too cold or warm, dry and I didn't have to sleep on the ground!  Since IC is a Webelo, he had to help make the meals.

He likes to camp and didn't really want to go back to church the next day to sing!

2nd Fun Run

On Wednesday, the 9th, the kids participated in the Fun Run again-the last one for this fall.  IC got to run this time and since he's a 4th grader, he's supposed to run the 1 mile.  He was rather tired when he was done!

Harvest 2013

It's almost the end of the month already-where does the time go?  Here are pictures from October 8th, when we were in the depths of harvest.  The kids were thrilled to get a ride with Daddy more than once in the combine.  I even got to have a ride without children one morning while they were in school!  Harvest officially ended for us yesterday, the 26th. Yay!

Football, Braces, Horses,and MORE Football

So, the last full week of September was the usual-a day of work at middle school and running the kids to all their activities, plus running them to the neighbors on Saturday to sell a few popcorn and nut/candy things.

On Sunday, the 29th, we had our last home game for pee wee football and IC was back into play for contact.  He did fine and played a few plays.

After the game, was a tailgate for the coaches.  There was a ton of food and flies!

That evening, we went to watch JJ play on the church's softball league.  There were only 2 teams this year, so they played each other for 2 games.

On Monday, the 30th, I took Miss A to the orthodontist to get her temporary braces.  She has 6 braces on her top teeth to help pull in the one tooth that is very crooked and making it hard for her to bite into things. She was so excited to get them and picked turquoise as her color.

After I got her back to school, I picked up Isaac and took him to York to the eye doctor.  His eye had been turning red recently and I wanted a 2nd opinion since I was first told it was just allergies.  The doctor could not find a reason for the redness, that it was an inflammation of some sort.  So, we are to treat it for a week with eye drops.

Monday evening, we headed to the girls' first horse riding lessons.  They had fun learning and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Sunday, the 6th, was IC's last pw football game for the year.  We traveled to Seward and it was pretty chilly for the game, but IC got to play a few times, so it was worth it. The varsity boys may make it to the championship game next week and if so, IC will probably go to watch the game, but will not play since he is on JV only.
