Quarantine Times

During the summer, we had a lot of time on our hands. IC still worked at the grocery store and did some dirty work at the mill, but also did a little cooking, gaming with friends, and archery.  There was no baseball, which did not sit well with him for quite a long time.  As the restrictions lifted, so did ours and he eventually got to go out with his friends again.

Miss A had rabbit and steer chores, purchased a computer to write and play games on with her friends, did a few small projects, helped dad with farm work, bicyling, and as things lifted, she also got to hang out with her friends again.

Miss E also had rabbit and heifer chores, projects galore, a love affair with netflix, helped dad with outside work, bicycling, went fishing a lot, and got to hang out with one friend a couple of times.  And then when the pool finally opened, she got to play there, also.

While JJ did normal farm work, I also worked on various projects - picking up scrapbooking and flower gardening/yard care again.  We planted 3 new trees, as we've torn down a few trees in the yard lately, and a few others are starting to fail.  Most of these trees are close to, or over a 100 years old, so it's time. I got myself an air fryer, that I had been watching for awhile and am learning the ins and outs of that.

FBLA awards

 May 21:

IC's FBLA awards were also online this year, instead of the normal banquet, and IC made a presentation also as an officer.  He and 2 other girls in FBLA made a presentation to the state FBLA for their conference.  Because that also was only online, they had to video their presentation and send it in.  It received 2nd place in State and qualified for National FBLA! Over the summer, that presentation was sent to the National convention, because, yes, that was also cancelled.  IC's group presentation won 2nd in the nation!  So cool!  Too bad it wasn't in person, but what they accomplished was awesome!  Nationals didn't spend the money on trophies this year, so the kids got medals instead.

8th Grade Graduation

May 17:
Still being in quarantine, the final acts of May for the kids were done virtually.  The middle school teachers presented the 8th grader awards and diplomas online, with Miss A receiving medals in choir, band, consumer science, art, IT, and science. (Medals are for high grades in class).  To celebrate, we had dirt cake (her choice for graduation) and she was given a few small gifts.

Because the ceremony was virtual, Miss A received her diploma and awards on June 2, when she went into the school to do their annual handprints on the wall.

Miss A also met up with a friend while getting her handprints done, so they got to sneak in a hug quick.
