This last week of June has been yet another busy one as a few things finished out for the summer.
Monday, June 22
Miss E's last softball game. It was at home against the 8 and under boys again, but this time, they were home team and we used a baseball instead of a softball. E had two awesome hits off the pitcher-no tee needed! The kids did great and we are all done with softball this year!
Tuesday, June 23
IC's last regular game. The boys did great and won this game 11-2.
IC's coaches this year were great. They may not have had had a winning year, but these guys actually taught the kids somethings. I liked that the base coach actually talked to IC on the field-that hasn't always been the case.
Wednesday, June 24
We actually didn't have anything going on-yay! We walked steers before going to the swimming pool. In the evening, we watched the Paddington movie. And hung in there despite the a/c not working on the main floor! We'd been having some trouble since last week with the a/c konking out. Luckily, the a/c upstairs worked fine, so the kids could sleep in comfort AND we could escape up there when it got too warm downstairs.
Thursday, June 25
We finished it! Miss A's skirt took 2 days to finish, but she is very happy with it. She made this skirt for 4-H this year and will be wearing it and the tie-dyed tank top she did in the 4-H fashion show.
IC's first game in the tournament and their last. The boys fought hard despite the mosquitos and the heat, and they did hold the other team to a 2 point lead, but just couldn't get those runs past a cracker-jack pitcher.
Friday, June 24
While IC went to my mom's to mow and for an overnight, and the girls went to my MIL's for an overnight, I went to Kansas! I drove 2 hours to go pick up Charlie, our new Holland Lop bunny for E to show at the county fair. He's an adorable tort and very sweet.

Softball
E bunny is on the slight-travel softball 8 and under team this year. She's had 2 games this year and has her final one this coming week.
Baseball
IC is on the 12 and under baseball team this year. There are 2 teams and neither team is doing awesome, but it's just ball and I am looking forward to being done. This will be the boys' last week as they have 1 more regular game Tuesday and tournaments start Thursday.
Mostly, IC plays center or left field and is the designated hitter. But, a couple of times, he's gotten to play 3rd base or 2nd base.

Boy Scout Camp
IC went on his first week-long Boy Scout camp from Sunday, June 14-Saturday, June 20. I did miss him and he must have missed us because he gave me a hug when he got home.
He and the two other boys from his age group were part of a 13 boy group that went to Humbolt. They got their Trail to First Class stuff worked on in the mornings and canoeing and leatherworking badges in the afternoon. IC had a lot of fun and really enjoyed camp. He called us once during the week on Wednesday night to tell us that he was enjoying camp!
He was excitedly telling us all the things he did when he got home and is already planning what he wants to do next year!

Summer Days
It's been a busy month of June, though I haven't taken a lot of pictures. Besides VBS the first week, E went to a birthday party, the girls went to the first Monday of each week for 4 weeks to Exploration station. They've done things like touring the courthouse, making and shooting bbs at targets, making cupcakes, etc. There's also been guitar lessons, a clogging class for E to try for dance, a hip hop class for Miss A for dance, a clover kid 4-H workshop for E and a ziggadee 4-H day for Miss A. In between these things has also been IC's baseball, which practices started back in April, and E bunny's softball, which practices started in May. We have also had several craft days and some flooding days!
Craft days have been fun and we still have a few more projects to go before July's county fair.
Twice in June it has rained enough to cause the creek to overflow. What a mess the road has been!
With all the rain, ball activities, and the cooler weather, we really haven't gone to the pool much yet, but we've been there a few times and will be a few times more in the next couple weeks as the girls will be taking private swim lessons.
Sunday, the 14th and Monday, the 15th, we managed to butcher 6 chickens and 3 ducks in between bouts of rain. My parents came out to help.

Summer Fun Day
Saturday, June 6
On a whim, we went to Lincoln for a summer fun day. First up, we went to Paint Yourself Silly. The kids ALWAYS love to come here.
After lunch, we headed to do a little laser tag, which all 3 kids loved!
VBS
The first week of June was a tad bit crazy with VBS on Tues-Thurs (June 2-4). I was in charge of preK/kindergarten crafts for all 3 days. We ended up having rain mostly the whole week, so it was crazy.
IC missed Wednesday's VBS because he went to the Lincoln Big Red Baseball camp in Friend. He had fun that day, but got a little bit sunburnt!
At the end of the morning on Thursday, there was a picnic with the kids, but that was regulated to the inside, also!

4-H Progress Show
Saturday, May 30
We packed up early and headed to the Phelps 4-H progress show in Holdrege. Definitely a smaller show by the Lancaster Show's standards but it was good practice.
E showed her bunny in the pet section.
Then, IC showed in Junior Showmanship, and Anna was last in showmanship.
After that, was the breeds. We brought 7 rabbits (including E bunny's) to show.
Chevy, IC's Flemish, got close to Best of Breed, but missed it by a smidgeon.
IC won Junior Showmanship (in Rabbits)!
Final action was E putting her bunny in the rabbit races at the end. Wendy didn't win, but it was still fun to watch!
