You've Got To Be Kidding Me!

I say that with resignation in my voice.  I think E bunny has pinkeye.  Seriously, is this child ever going to be healthy for more than a couple of weeks at a time?

Yesterday, we stayed home and I cleaned and picked up stuff in the house ALL DAY.  Yuck.  Then, in the evening, I took the girls to see Wreck-It Ralph and E complained about her eye bothering her.  And she definately didn't like the movie much (which I didn't think she would, but oh well.)  IC and JJ stayed home since IC wanted to watch The Voyage of Dawn Treader and I won't let the girls watch the Narnia movies yet.

Anyway, she got up in the middle of the night because her eye was bothering her and this morning, she's got red eyes.  Lovely.  So, I'm thinking pinkeye.  This poor girl has had nearly everything-ear infections, tonsilitis, shingles and now maybe pinkeye.

JJ stayed home with the kids from church while I went to sing in the choir, pick up a couple of groceries and night light bulbs (major crisis when one of the light bulbs burned out last night and I didn't have any replacements) and dinner from Pizza Hut.

The afternoon was spent at home-JJ's trying to teach me how to work the new accounting program for entering expenses and income in the computer-blech.

Tomorrow, we will spend our Christmas eve morning at the dr. office-oh joy, just where I want to be-NOT.

Never a dull moment.

IC's Christmas Party

Friday, the kids had an hour late start for school.  This actually made it easier to get up the kids, though E was up before the other 2.  She, on the other hand, didn't have school since preschool gets cancelled when regular school has a late start.  She didn't seem to bummed about it.

I took E to my MIL's late morning and then I headed to school to IC's Christmas party.  The kids were good and we did a craft and had a game before a small snack.  Then, it was already time to go home and officially begin Christmas vacation!

After picking up E, we got a few groceries before coming home and the kids immediately headed out to play in the snow.  Later, IC has bb practice in town to go to, but JJ is supposed to be in so that I don't have the drag the girls along.

I am looking forward to tomorrow's time of being at home for most of the day.  Besides cleaning the house, doing laundry and finishing Christmas cards, the plan is to go to the movie in town in the evening.  The girls want to see Wreck-It Ralph and although IC has seen it, he said he could see it again.  I'm sure the kids will play some in the snow and they've requested making Christmas cookies, so we'll see when all of that gets done!

First Snow Day

Thursday morning, the blizzard was done, but school had been cancelled the night before, so the kids got to sleep in.  At least they slept in until 7:30 am!  By 8:30 am, they were out playing in the snow, looking for places to sled!

I spent the morning doing laundry and getting things ready for IC's Christmas school party on Friday, since I was doing the games.

In the afternoon, IC wanted to finish dipping pretzels and such in almond bark, since he didn't get to do that earlier when the girls and I did it.  So, the girls headed outside while we did that.  As soon as we were done, IC headed outside.  Bouncing B was in the yard, so the kids played together.  Then, JJ took a break from scooping snow on the tractor to take the kids on sled rides with the 4 wheeler.  They had a blast!

After that, the kids went back to playing on the snow piles JJ had scooped together, while JJ and I cleared the car's driveway and the porch's.

Sasha hung around quite a bit today while the kids played-the rest of the time, she hid in the basement.  She's getting up there in years-soon to be 10 on New Year's Eve, but she still keeps up with the kids when she wants to!

Because school was cancelled, E's TYKE Christmas program was postponed until January.  E was kinda disappointed until I told her it would be in January-then she was ok with it.

Snow Time!

Wednesday, the 19th, was the day there was this blizzard forecasted.  The kids went to school as usual and came home at the regular time.  The snow started spitting at 11, but got serious at  1 pm.  I think we had around 6 inches or so, but the wind blew a tremendous, so it's hard to tell how much exactly we had.  I had to dig out all the winter gear for the kids and E bunny went out first before the big kids got home from school.

After the kids got home, since their Pioneers Club was cancelled for the night, bundled up and went out to play in the blizzard!

They had fun and were soaked by the time they came in.

IC's Christmas Program

Monday, the 17th, was IC's Christmas program.  The kids were supposed to dress up in different job outfits.  IC went as a farmer-complete with suspenders and a straw hat!  He did a pretty good job, though I caught him being silly more than once.

Three Christmas programs down-1 more to go!

Cub Scout Meeting

Thursday, the 13th, the boys had their pack meeting at Heritage.  Since our den had the skit, the boys performed that first.  They did a good job.

After that, the other dens did activities with some of the residents-the Wolves played a game, the Webelos did an ornament craft and the Tigers put cloves into oranges.

In between the boys' silliness, I got a nice picture of them-we were just missing one of our members that evening.

At the end, was the prize-giving for popcorn sales.  Isaac did well and got his bow and arrow thing and a gift card for Walmart, which he used to get a leatherman, that he's been eyeing for quite awhile.

Girl Scout Christmas Party

On December 11, we had the Girl Scout Christmas Party.  The girls first played musical chairs before receiving their prizes for selling nuts and candy.  After that, they made some cards for the residents at Heritage before getting a snack.  The girls had a great time.

Our Crazy Life

I feel bad that I haven't been good about updating regularly-time just seems to fly as I work a lot, run kids to activities and try to get ready for Christmas.

So, E's shingles did heal well and by the end of the week, were not contagious at all.  Right now, she is dealing with the itching from healing, so we are using lotion and cortizone to keep that under control and she is finishing her medicine TODAY-hurray!

Last week, of course, was busy with Miss A having a Girl Scout Christmas party last Tuesday, the 11th, after our regular gymnastics and guitar, while IC had his first basketball practice for GAED basketball.

I ended up working last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (all for different people), plus juggled Pioneers Club on Wednesday and IC's cub scout pack meeting on Thursday.

Last Saturday, I took Miss A to her classmate's, Zach's birthday party, in which she was the only girl-which she absolutely LOVED.  Yeah, she's going to be trouble when she gets older!  The boys went on a hike (with supervision) during this party and it was muddy and I guess the boys were going to carry her because she was wearing her sparkly pink boots and they didn't want them to get muddy!  Luckily, Zach's dad carried her so that the boys wouldn't.  Yep, she's going to be trouble when she gets older!

That Saturday evening, we all went to town and saw the movie, Rise of the Guardians.  I counted it as a win, because E bunny did not cry at all during the movie!  The other 2 liked it, of course.

Sunday, after church, we headed to York and ate at Applebees (we used a gift card-REALLY cut down on the cost).  It was a good meal-even the kids liked it (BONUS, BIG TIME).  Then, we went to Wal-Mart so the kids could shop for me for Christmas.  And yes, I have a pretty good idea what they got me, but I will be surprised anyway!

Monday, was IC's school Christmas program.  He did pretty well, though, I caught him goofing around more than once.

Yesterday was the usual in York and then running back to town to take IC to BB practice.  Plus, I also worked all day, so I had mom bring E to school so we could leave right afterward.  School was enjoyable, though.

Today, Wednesday, I didn't have to work, but I did go in to school to volunteer in Miss A's class.  When I picked E up from preschool, it was starting to spit a little snow and by 1 pm, our big forecasted snow was in full force.  Right now, the ground is covered and visibility is low because of the wind blowing snow, but the kids are all home from school and we are toasty war.  Pioneers club was cancelled due to the bad weather, so we are home all evening.  Now if I could get the girls to get along, we'd be doing good!

Surprise Diagnosis

E bunny's been dealing with a cold for a week now, and after just a few days last week after it started, she got a rash on her chest.  Looking like eczema to me, I treated it as such.  By the time the weekend was over, the thing had spread to her right arm and over to her back.

Pretty sure it wasn't eczema, we missed preschool and I missed work to go to the doctor this morning.  Turns out the girl has shingles!  It's ugly and part of it is scabbing over, which actually means that which is scabbed is not contagious.  Luckily, she's contagious to kids not vaccinated for chickenpox and babies under 1 yr, and she hasn't had any contact with babies and very few kids around here aren't vaccinated.  Also, her rash is covered by long sleeved shirts, so we are good to go, I hope.  (Especially, since we didn't realize that's what she had for a few days!)

She has the ok to go to preschool tomorrow and is on medicine to help the virus go away faster.

Leave it up to E bunny to come up with an unusual ailment!

Church Christmas Program

This morning came quickly and with it, the busyness of the church's Christmas program.  IC was a wise man and the girls both sang in choirs.  We had dress rehearsal during Sunday School, so I helped with that, helped kids with costumes, and then directed the cherub (preschool) choir during the program.  After that, was a soup meal in the church, which was great. The program went well, with only a few hiccups here and there, and I'm glad we're down to 2 Christmas programs to go (and neither one I have to do anything but watch!)

The girls did well with singing, although, they got a little bored sitting there during the program.  IC was fairly miserable with his cold, but he hung in there and did a good job as a wiseman.

Saturday Afternoon Fun

So, after all the excitement from the morning with art club and Santa, we got home and decided to start an art project.  I should have waited until after dinner, but it all worked out anyway.  I had gotten some clear glass ornaments for the kids to paint to give as gifts this year.  So, they made several-putting paint inside and rolling it around to coat the inside and then IC and E bunny each painted the outside of one, too.  The kids had a lot of fun with ornament painting.

After dinner, we got started on baking some Christmas cutouts and I haven't done that for a few years, so I was a bit rusty, but the kids still had a lot of fun.

After that, THEN we dipped some pretzels in almond bark.  IC left soon after we got started to go help Daddy set up for Sunday's morning church program, but the girls helped me out and had fun making a mess!

Yesterday was also the day before our anniversary, so JJ went to town and surprised me with flowers!

A Good Week, Art Club Meeting, And Santa!

So, I didn't have as much work this week-only on Monday and Tuesday. I volunteered in Miss A's class on Wednesday.  The rest of the week was spent working on the church's Christmas program costumes, cleaning the house (which I hadn't done very well for quite awhile), washing a ton of laundry and just doing "stuff."

E bunny has had a cold all week and now has a rather nasty outbreak of eczema.  IC started with his massive cold a couple of days ago, and is fairly miserable.  Miss A has managed to not be sick, so far.

Several of the kids' Christmas (and the girls' birthday) gifts showed up in the mail this week, just have one more child gift to get, and decisions about a couple of more other people's gifts.  So far, all of the kids' school teachers have requested no gifts, which actually makes things a little easier this year.  We will still be giving gifts to the guitar, gymnastics, and Sunday School teachers.

Today, the kids went with me to art club. We had a shortened meeting anyway and there was only 3 other ladies there.  I didn't have a babysitter, as my MIL was gone and my mom is still in Ohio.  She'll be coming back on Monday.  I'm sure E will be thrilled to see her next Thursday, as I have to work.  Next week, I only work 2 days, and I am REALLY hoping that stays true!

Anyway, at the art club meeting, except for a few interruptions, the kids did well.  It was my turn to lead the group, and since I had gotten a book on drawing with crayons (for adults-it's fine art, no, really, it is!)-I showed several things in the book and we did a little experimenting on paper with working with crayons as a media.  I actually taught them something!  It was fun.

After that, we headed to the church, which was having their annual Christmas store.  They do this every year. and kids come there to get gifts for their immediate family members.  It's a great mission and they have over a hundred kids go through it.  I hope to have the kids help with the store next year. We didn't get anything from the store, though, we went to see Santa in the sanctuary!

In Memory of My Aunt

Even though today is a rather busy day with working at school all day, then feeding the kids before taking IC to his cub scout den meeting and his last basketball clinic after that, I still was thinking of my aunt Lydia today.  Her funeral was this afternoon at 1 pm, eastern time.

This picture was taken in 2000, and I know she had changed since then, but that's how I remember her.

Rehearsal Day

Today, IC's church music group sang, IC was the acolyte, and we had Christmas program rehearsal for everyone during Sunday School and for the kids with parts after church.  It was wild, literally.  I am in charge of costumes, cherub choir and helped with keeping the program running.  Now, I'm ready for a nap!

1 Down, 3 To Go

Thursday, November 29, was Miss A's school Christmas program (Kindergarten-2nd grade).  It was a full gym and a nice program.

Rough Week

It's been another busy week-working all day Monday, Tuesday, and half days both Wednesday and Friday, and working on the church Christmas program in between.  We had basketball, gymnastics/guitar, Girl Scouts, Pioneers AND Miss A's Christmas program for school on Thursday.

To add to that, my mom's twin sister passed away on Wednesday.  She'd been ill, but was getting better when she took another sudden turn for the worse.  My mom left for Ohio on Thursday morning and because of everything going on, I couldn't go.

Saturday, we found out my sister-in-law, Elizabeth's mother-in-law passed away.  (When it rains, it pours.)  She was ill, also, and wasn't expected to live a long time.  I just wasn't expecting either to happen within days of each other.

Husker Game

Saturday, November 17, JJ and I left the kids with my mom and headed to Lincoln to attend our first Husker game in 10 years.  JJ actually WON the tickets in a drawing at the farm store, so we got to eat a nice meal at a tailgate party first before going to the game.  The weather was nice-a cool wind, but it wasn't horribly freezing out.  We had a good game and won 38-14.  It was fun.

Girl Scout Show

The Girl Scout's regular meeting was a fun one on the 13th, when the girls started with a pizza party.

Then the girls got to go to the theater to watch the one-act play kids perform after a tour of the theater.  The girls sat so quietly through the whole performance-they did a great job!

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday!

IC turned 9 on Monday, November 12.  To celebrate both this birthday and Thanksgiving, we combined both days and held them together at my in-laws on Sunday, November 11.  I took the kids to Sunday School, then after that, we headed home to get ready to go.  We let IC open his gift from us first, which was a baseball net, so he can practice throwing the ball anytime.  After that, we headed to my parents-in-laws to have Thanksgiving dinner and then we celebrated IC's birthday with gifts and cake.
