September Happenings

Hard to believe it's September 22nd, the beginning of fall already.  Apparently, according to my lack of blog entries the past couple of weeks, it's been a busy month.

Besides working on getting back into the swing of things with taking kids to their various activities, I have been trying to get clothes ready for cosignment sale, get the hang of being a Girl Scout leader, and started Sunday School teaching,  I was released from my foot doctor on the 12th, and have worked 1-2 days per week.  I have been helping in both Miss A and E bunny's classroom as a volunteer once a week.

I took Miss A to the orthodontist for her re-check appointment and she's getting her temporary braces put in next Monday.  Both the girls are selling Girl Scout fall product this fall, as well as IC is selling popcorn for the Cub Scouts again.

JJ is leading IC's den for scouts, but I also took training so that I can help out when he's in the field harvesting (which won't be very long from now).

The girls got a full swing going on their activities and yes, I let them be in both gymnastics and dance this year.  We'll see if it lasts.  The girls officially started gymnastics on the 5th.

IC's first football game was Sept. 8.  He did a great job and played quite often.

Unfortunately, the week after at practice, he ran into another kid and ended up getting a mild concussion, putting him out of the game for awhile.  He's been cleared to go back this week, but we'll see how things go.

The girls participated in the first fun run of the year.  Since IC was on strict, no exercise that week (that was right after the concussion incident), he didn't participate for the first time ever.  The girls did great, even though Miss E lost her shoe and had to stop and put it back on!

On Saturday, the 14th, JJ and I went to Lincoln to see the Huskers play UCLA.  We were given free tickets.  If IC hadn't still been having headaches, I might have let him go in my place, but we hope to get him to the spring game next year.  Anyway, the game started great, but then, it stank after half-time and we lost. There's still something about getting to go to a Husker game, though!

Tuesday, the 17th, was the girls' 2nd meeting and one of the other leaders had each one decorate a cupcake before they ate it.  They had a pretty good time with that!

Friday, the 20th, was Homecoming and Grandparents day at the elementary school.  All three got to be on floats this year in the parade.

IC rode with the PeeWee football boys (although he could have rode with the cub scouts).

The girls rode with the Girl Scouts and since I had to ride too, this year, I had to take pics of the kids on the floats before we left the parking lot!

This last full week of September looks to be a busy one.  Never a dull moment around the farm!

Busy Days

Well, school is in full swing, and quickly so are the kids' activities.  We are busy with hip hop on Wednesdays for Miss A, Ballet/tap for E on Thursdays-plus guitar lessons on Thursday for IC and Miss A. IC and Miss A have piano after school on Fridays.

IC has had football practice Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays (though this Saturday is his last practice on the weekend).  He loves it and was bummed when he missed 2 practices due to illness.  He has been playing defense on JV and loves to tell me after practice who he took down that day!

This week, we added Girl Scout 2 Tuesdays a month, and gymnastics for both girls on Thursdays.  IC will add cub scouts 2 Mondays a month, but we don't start that until a little later.  This Sunday starts Sunday School and next Sunday starts choir for me.

I've been busy making several trips to Grand Island to have my foot checked, and to deal with taking care of our State Fair entries.  I was able to get my Girl Scout leader training done 2 weeks ago, but still have to do my cub scout training, yet (to cover during harvest time when JJ will have trouble getting to the den meetings).

The girls are loving dance in York and are temporarily in the public auditorium downtown until the new dance studio is finished.

I feel bad that I forgot to get E's picture, so I will do that this week and when they get started in the new studio next week for sure.

My foot is healing nicely-I was able to get the stitches and wire out a week ago and can officially go without the boot this week.  It's still sore a little, but gets better every day.

I have worked 1 day a week so far, except for this week, and hope that is all for awhile.  I am still working on getting the Christmas program for church figured out and need to get clothes ready for the cosignment sale in a couple of weeks.

Two Sundays ago on my birthday, IC had a song performance at church with some of his piano teacher's other students.  He did very well.  Miss A chose not to do it this year.

We ended up not going out to eat for my birthday because I was sick with a sinus thing and miserable all day.

Last Sunday, we went to the State Fair.  It wasn't as fun as usual.

We walked (I rode in a wheelchair since I still had the boot on) through vendors, our exhibits, and animals, the kids made rope and we took in a wild west show.

Upcoming, IC starts having football games and I have a solo this Sunday, we have church pictures next Saturday, and JJ starts silage chopping today and sells the calves on Friday.

These busy days!
